The background and the 3D-models are super cool. I might have experienced some hit registration issues or then I'm just a bad shot. Nice to see more voice-acting in this jam. Great job.

the black drones are scary when they get close because then they make the Bass-Boosted sound effect from Ear Rape Memes.

in general, the sounds are really loud. you should turn down your volume before playing.

i don’t know what my objective is (i just assume that for the game jam you’ve only completed the core game and you’ll add the objective later).

this is a impressive game unlike anything i’ve played before, you should get around to adding the objective.

Good game, have some old Freelancer vibes (for a moment I though right click is enabling turret mode). Figured out how to play after some time.

Haha. I’m terrible in 3D so this was a bit disorienting and a few of the things were harder to see than they could’ve been.

In this context a tutorial person made sense and I liked how vast the universe felt (there was clearly a situation I was just joining). But be careful with the controls on a web game. CTRL is descend and W is move left but CTRL+W is close window.

Developer

I didn't constantly test the project for the web; [ctrl]+[w] was indeed one issue arise half way while on development. I've added some alternate keys, so you can gain/lose altitude with mouse wheel or [q] and [e] keys. These info were in the onscreen menu activated by pressing [esc]...

well... it was another mistake: the [esc] key also mess with the web version.

Anyway, finally I managed to realize the stand alone downloads were hidden. I assumed the downloads were there, but that's something I'll have to add to my quite long list of mistakes.

Now the download for Windows, Linux and MacOS are available.

Yeah I’m not too thrilled with how itch.io has handled game jam submissions either. If I click on a project that needs to be rated it’ll take me to the ratings / comments page, which if there are downloadable binaries they’ll be directly linked.

I played a game or two without realizing I hadn’t seen the project’s game page, which in some cases contains instructions. You wouldn’t think they’d have you make a page for your game only to not show it, but there I was.

I guess part of the process is learning the platform. Still more comprehensible than gotm.io.

Cool to see some 3d projects! I was not totally sure what I was supposed to be shooting since the drones are small. It would also be cool if there was some effects from the gunfire.

Developer

Web version is missing various graphic features; gun effects are available in the stand alone version but I noticed just now the downloads were set as hidden. I've fixed it: now you should be able to download the stand alone Windows, Linux and MacOS version as well.

For some reason it was unplayable for me in the browser. I wish there was a standalone version uploaded. The visuals look great on the screenshots but I could not play past the first dialog due to extreme lagging.

The standalone version was there... albeit hidden, I just noticed the issue (and fixed), now you should be able to download the project for Windows, Linux and MacOS

Interesting concept, the sounds are pretty good and the visuals are nice. I did manage to finish the game but about 4 of my 5 attempts crashed after destroying half the drones. The player ship is really detailed and I really like the distorting shader on the hover-orbs.

Thanks for testing out!

This is my first actual finished project, so I preferred to stay safe and keep the most basic core feature around the design loop; a system design to increase the health was right over the edge, but ultimately I've left it out to turn on some polishing instead.

The ship (made by Jom) can be found here: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/space-ship-b1ab8c3f4a11451f8baadf8490868afe

Since is CC-BY4, anyone can use it (even for commercial products). All model/stuff used in this project are available in the [credits] menu: click on each element will open a link to the source

Nice visuals and sounds.

The only thing is I don’t see what I’m shooting, only when it hits on the ship structure. And I also don’t see if I’m actually hurting the shield/turret.

Web version of Godot Engine don't show the ImmediateGeometry node, which is a feature that allow draw 3d geometry of one pixel (which are used to show bullet's line). The download version (which previously was erroneously set as hidden) does offer the complete visual experience (with bullets, explosion etc)
