Wow, alright... First of all, my real name is also gio, second of all, you submitted the game at the exact same second as I did, third of all, our games are both browser only and supports mobile. Biggest coincidence I've had in any jam yet.

Anyway, the game itself was actually great! I've never played poker before so I don't underestimate the rules prior, but the game was simple enough with a pretty good UI that I can almost immediately pick it up after about a minute. The sound effects aren't bad at all, would've loved some music but that's completely fine. The art style was cute and simple (nice ding ding). There was a clear goal of the game, it was not difficult, and was fun for a good short time.

The implementation of the theme was also pretty nice, I'm assuming real poker doesn't include any dice (I never played it), so putting it in here in a way that doesn't feel slapped on was pretty great. I managed to make 100 points in 17 bets.

Awesome fun little game. Well done!

Wow nicely laid out and love the art!

Nice concept, well executed! Good sfx too. Could benefit from a visual counter to tell you when the correct number of cards has been selected.

Honestly a pretty fun concept!

Figuring out when to pay money to try and gain better odds was an interesting task, plus it was pretty quick to learn the mechanics even without a tutorial.

Developer

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! That means a lot! I've been careful about the "How to play" section, as there is no tutorial in game, so I'm glad it's clear even without it :D

Very cute game, I love the card designs! Adding a roll of the dice to a poker game is a very interesting concept imo, even if it only plays a minor role in the game overall.

Thanks! I'm glad you thought so!

So I like the visuals and understand the concept of the game but can't get it working. Can't change hand or continue after placing bet. Hitting hold or hit doesn't do anything. I'm confused on how to progress in the game.

Developer (1 edit)

yeah i'm sorry there is no tutorial and I created the itch page too later.

The mechanic is that you have to change cards based on the value of the die, so you could not progress because the value of the die and the number of cards selected  were not the same number. You can also pay coins to re-roll or change the die value, to select the number of cards you want.

As i said im late but now there is a quite clear How to play section.
