Very charming and cute! I managed to get a high score of 139 cows. 🐄👽
Does the difficulty increase as time progresses/score gets higher? For me, I didn't notice a difficulty increase, so the gameplay could risk becoming monotonous after a while.
Really fun, great job! 😄
Thanks for the review! Glad to see you enjoyed it!
The difficulty does increase, but only by spawning another farmer every 30 seconds. As the game goes on, the farmers have a random chance of being created either faster or slower, with the range of speeds being increased more and more as the game goes on (i.e. each farmer starts with speed
c + randomBtwn(-farmersSpawned, farmersSpawned)
or something like that). So the game does get gradually more difficult, but that’s not made clear to the player. You’re right tho - that’d probably be something good to emphasize should we choose to continue working on the game. Thanks for the feedback! Good luck in the game jam!
Masterpiece
This works well as a relaxing game. Put a more work into and it surely would be a great mobile game.
I like the concept but it was unclear how the die roll contributed to where the cows spawned, seemed like using the dice was an afterthought.
Fun game :) It was a little hard to keep track of where the farmers were. Maybe add indicators around the edge of the screen that point in the direction they are? Also, I had trouble figuring out what number on the die corresponded to what part of the field. The concept is cute and I enjoyed playing it!
I casually played a few times and had a score around 60 on my last attempt. It works and had no major issues (except for mute button not working). Glad there was a tutorial, even if just a text screen. My only complaint is that the location of the cow spawns was a little unclear to me. Quick suggestions:
- maybe add a sound effect for when cows spawn
- find a way to better communicate where they spawn (dice was a little unclear to me)
- add a leaderboard system, or maybe some kind of progression system for the player to work towards to add replay value (after you abduct x cows: maybe move onto next level, or maybe you unlock something for your next attempt, etc).
Overall, a quick, simple, fun game. Could see this working decently on mobile with touch screen controls.
Nice simple game. The dice seems to be added there just to fit the theme. Other than that, nice music and cute art.
It’s funny - this seems to be the main piece of feedback we receive, but the idea of dividing up the field is what sparked the game idea in the first place! Any ideas as to how we could have implemented the die more (maybe bonuses for those zones, a better-defined effect, etc.)?
I must say, I have no idea. I think this impression is due to the fact that player has no control of the dice roll. But got no idea with this implementation. Perhaps when getting some special cow, a dice fall and the result of the roll affect the field positively/negatively (fire, more farmer, more cow, wind, etc...)
The controls were fun, I think the game is really relaxing :) I got 169 cows before being captured on a photo :D
