How does your game fit the theme?
"As always, you can interpret this theme however you like. Use it as a jumping off point, so get creative, think outside the box, and surprise us." In line with this theme, the design goes beyond the simple concept of scaling objects up and down and delves into the multifaceted meaning of "Scale." The game ties the theme "Built to Scale" to human emotions, exploring how small emotional changes can have a significant psychological impact. The player takes on the role of exploring the inner worlds of individuals, addressing emotional issues faced by people of different ages. By using abilities to adjust size and gravity, the player helps resolve deep-seated emotional blocks within their hearts, ultimately leading to inner healing. The game mechanics are thoughtfully designed to reflect the concept of scale in a meaningful way.

The game is very beautiful, and the style fits well with the message it aims to convey. The idea is also very original—psychological games are interesting and quite rare in game jams.

A little feedback: I got stuck twice with the teenager when I turned the volume up too high; he kept running uncontrollably, and I couldn't decrease the volume or regain control of the character.

If you want to check out our game, feel free to do so :3 https://butterflan.itch.io/spicy-king

THANK YOU!!! <3

I love the theme interpretation :"> The artstyle fits really well. It's like a children's storybook! I enjoyed playing, it makes me feel comfy and nostalgic with all the stuff in the background art. The controls shown are also straightforward which I appreciate. Great game!

Thank you for playing and warm comment!  ☺️

Really nice artstyle and message, as other said the gameplay tutorial would be lovely in the game. ( I got a bit stuck on stage 2 beacuse I did what I was suppose to, but it was still not letting me through). I also found in the first stage the character when walking was a bit blurry and jittery, but might just be my eyes.

Otherwise the game is really cute, and I love the progression, art and theme! <3

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah we’re aware of that 🥲 we intend making new version with better gameplay 😊 thank you for your feedback!

This is an interesting take on the theme, I like it! The interactions are not obvious, and as many people said, I wish there was an in-game tutorial, but you know this already :)

Overall, you did a great job! The art is cute and the explanation on the page was really helpful!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and your feedback ☺️☺️☺️ it’s heartwarming ☺️

The way you integrated the theme with the concept you thought of is very original and not so obvious. The drawings and graphics are very nice. You did an amazing job! :)  I loved it, even if reading the instruction while I was playing kinda ruined the gaming experience and that's a shame because it has a lot of pontential.

It would be great if the game was finished and integrated with some storytelling (some cinematics at the beginning of each level to have context and better understanding on what is happening and what the player has to do). This would also help to empathize much more with the character.

Thank you for playing and kind feedback! ☺️ Yeah we are hoping to finish game in the near future.

I really like the gameplay variety and art style here, but as others have said it's a little hard to tell what to do. The only instruction is on the page itself. I think some in-game tutorial stuff would have gone a long way in making the gameplay more fun.

Developer

Thank you for playing and your feedback! We had short time to implement everything we planned so there’s lack of tutorials or instruction, we are aware of that. We’re hoping to make new version of this game 😊

I really like the concept and I like the different mechanics implemented, but to me it felt unclear what I had to do and sometimes it felt a tiny bit frustrating. In the end I figured it out though, but I think a little explanation about some of the controls could help a great deal! I did think you captured the emotions very well, especially in the first 2 levels! Also, the thumbnail is really nice, it made me excited about your game right away! Great choice

Developer

Thank you for playing and your feedback! Sorry about how the game had no clear instruction 🥲 we couldn’t add details like that because of time so we had to just explain in game detail,, it’s heartwarming to see people giving us positive feedbacks ☺️ thank you !

I don't like the way the gameplay changes in every scene, I didn't know what to do and I had to look at the guide for every step, it would be nice to have a little explanation before each minigame like in Wario Ware, I removed it in the third phase because walking so slowly makes me anxious. And I have a broken mouse wheel, it doesn't turn properly.

Apart from that, the art style caught my attention, even though the objects are not well placed and there are things above or below where they should be.

More than "emo scale" I would have called it "anxiety scale", I identify with the guy with the headphones XD

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Yes we’re aware of that, as we explained in game detail and other comments, we didn’t have enough time to implement everything with details like play guide or instructions. Sorry about your bad experience of playing our game 🥲

Thank you for your feedback and yeah our artist did great job, thank you ☺️

It's a shame about the time, I know what it feels like, it happens to me a lot in jams, but it helps to experiment and create new ideas, I think that continuing the project, changing emo for anxiety, and finishing it could really hit the market, even with some changes in the gameplay it could be a game I would play on Android.

For most of us it was first time to try game jam, but we really learnt a lot through this. We’re encouraged by people including you now, we will work on making actual game with the same concept and art. Thank you :)

Really nice and neat point-and-click puzzle game with great art that renders the atmosphere so well and creative gameplay that combines the theme and story, great interpretation of the theme and well execution, looking foward to the full game with 4th level!

Developer

Thank you for playing!! And thank you for positive opinion on our game ☺️☺️

Cool art, draw style is amazing and underused in games, congrats!

I love the art for the game, it's very unique and expressive! There's also some good ideas for storytelling here, with a clever usage of the prompt. However, the story isn't well-communicated in the game itself, and I had to rely on the description to realize what was happening. The gameplay is also slow and tedious, with unclear directions and no engaging mechanics.

I respect the ideas here, and the art is lovely! I hope you can make another version that improves upon the storytelling and gameplay in the future.

Developer

True, we acknowledge about it. We most of programmers have full time job so we focused on implementing features first so we couldn’t add kind instruction or something..

thank you for the kind feedback :)
