This is amazing, It looked super cute :) and I didn't come across any bugs while playing (can't be said about most games on here) so overall really polished. It was so satisfying rolling as that huge ball. Clever theme implementation and overall one of the best if not the best game that I have played in this jam. Awesome

I thoroughly enjoyed this one -- it took a little bit for me to find my bearings with the movement tech but it's a super fun game loop once you get the hang of it (my high score is 61999!). Great use of the scale theme and really slick execution! Charming character/world design, too :)
Here's a couple tiny suggestions/issues I noticed for if your team plans to continue work on this game in the future:
- A quit button on the main menu would be nice since this is a desktop download
- The volume slider on the main menu uses default Unity assets while the one on the pause menu looks more in keeping with your game's style -- I'd suggest applying the pause menu version all around
- Pausing/ending the game should also pause looping sounds (music and beep indicator for eviction notices)
- Your final score on the game over screen differs by a couple points from what's shown in the top right
- Clicking while in pause/game over screen (on or off of selectable UI) shoots your gun ingame
- Automatic reloading feels like it could be implemented in a clearer manner -- I didn't understand that when I had 0 ammo I could still take another shot after a few seconds
- "Charge" is slightly confusing language for the "big mode" mechanic -- I thought it had to do with me charging up my gun or something so I didn't realize I could enter big mode until my last few (best) attempts
Nice score! I kinda wanna start a leaderboard in the description or something with how many people that have gotten super high ones (I think the highest I've seen is ~800,000 lol). Thank you for the feedback though! We're planning on updating our game with a WebGL version sometime after the jam ends so we'll definitely try and iron out those issues. But thank you for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed our game!!
Fun game!! Art style is super cute and having a pillbug be the player gets bonus style points :> Wouldn't say shoot to move is the most interesting mechanic in a gamejam but I suppose someone had to make one.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked our silly little pillbug :P I agree that the shooting to move mechanic probably isn't most original gameplay mechanic, but we needed some mechanic for the player to make sudden corrections in their movement and shooting seemed way more fun than like a dash mechanic or something. Anyways glad you had fun with our game!!
I like the premise, the story is funny, the concept of a shotgun-grappling-hook cat is hilarious, and once you get a really good rhythm the speed and physics feel so good. So good, that I forgot about rolling up and becoming this big giant ball of destruction. I think a sound effect and visual reminder that flashes bigger would good.
Then pillbug aint taking no nonsense with that gun dope game reminded or a particular turtle Good Game
Classic GMTK Jam with its shoot-to-move games.
Really good feel to the movement, and I love the vibe of the visuals.
Ooooo, very visually appealing game. I loved the environmental art so much. Also ty for including the controller layout at the start. Always dislike scowering itch pages for how to play. No crazy feedback to give. I think the only thing is that it's very difficult to move at first and does take a bit of getting used to. But once you start going, the momentum of movement feels great. Maybe the level design could be polished a bit to really motivate different directions of movement. I kind of wished the ball went up and down versus just going in one direction. Nitpicking tbh. Fun stuff good job y'all!
Thanks for the feedback! I do agree that the level design could've used a little more balance/variety/polish, especially with the placement of the notes. We also tried to get the ball mode to have more vertical movement in the beginning by having the ground be more hilly so it would launch you up into the air, but ultimately playtesting showed that it hindered movement more than helped it and we had to end up scrapping it since we were running low on time. Anyways thank you for checking out our game and I'm glad you had fun with it!
Awesome game! I especially like the grappling hook mechanic, it feels very smooth and well made. Learning how to get a lot of momentum was very rewarding. Also, art and music it very cute and fit well with rest of the game. Great job!
Fun endless runner, all the different characters (including the cat gun!) are so cute too! The eviction notice at the start gave me a laugh :D
Music is fun, movement feels good too. Great job!
The bug vibes are immaculate. I really like the combination of a grapplemechanic with the gun. It created a really interesting sense of control to be able to grapple and then use the gun to maneuver quickly. I feel like the scale part of the game took a backseat compared to everything else but it was still really cool to supersize and crush everything.
Really fun concept with an endearing art style and a real oomph feeling to the gameplay. I mean the bug has a gun that's as good as you can ask for really
