This was really fun, and amazing that it was built in a hand-crafted game engine. In the web version, I experienced a couple of crashes where the game would just freeze up, and I didn't even realise you could stack blocks on top of each other until the third time I played. I think making it clearer where blocks can fit when building up would improve the enjoyment. Fantastic work!
Thank you for taking the time to play the game ! Glad you liked it even with the issues that you had :/ May i know which browser you are using, I only tested with the latest version of chrome so I don't know how other browser react !
I am working on a new visual indicator that in my opinion will help greatly the visibility of the tower placement but I can do only so much during a jam xD
Thank you again for your review !
Fun game! The music was a great fit and I really enjoyed the strategic "layers" haha
Just placing things felt very fun and satisfying lol. Though I wish the game was a bit more faster or the item prices were more balanced. But yeah balancing during jams are quite the task.
Thank you for taking the time to play the game ! I did try to polish as much as i could the tower placement so I am quite happy that you found it satisfying ! Yes balancing is sooo hard and I didn't add a working mvp until the third day which made playtest a bit hard and rush ! Will try to upgrade the difficulty curve in future releases :)
This game gets chaotic really fast XD Cool game, my favourite touch was the binary 1 and 0 to show when you can/can't build.
One improvement would be to set a cap on the number of sounds at once, it was so loud near the end :p
Pretty fun and well implemented stacking mechanic, I like the numbers which help you understand what level each stack is on. I do think some strategies can make it quite easy, for example you can just sort of spam pieces all over the place and you don't lose, so maybe as a post-jam update you could mitigate these strategies. Overall though, a fun entry :)
I had a lot of fun with this game ! Never though of doing a tower defense like this, it work very well nice job!
Carefully building the first minutes... then absolute chaos!! ;) Nice twist on the tower defense genre, thank you, this was great fun! :)
Really fun game! I played until 7:30, but it was really fun for those 7.5 minutes! Great work for 96 hours!
Great game concept I really enjoyed playing :D the music was catchy and dropping in the towers and defending the king was highly addictive. The game for me felt very easy, at no point did I feel like I was in danger of losing which is great for relaxation but undesirable if you were aiming to make it a challenge, either way I had fun :) Amazing work using your own engine, I can't even comprehend the complexity of that :) Great job!
Thank you ! Glad that you enjoy it ! Make the difficulty curve for a game jam seems soooo hard ... Half of the people said that it was too easy and half of the other don't get past the 7-8min power creep xD It would really help to have varying difficulties for the challenges !
At least I am glad that you had fun ! Cheers :)
First of all, insane and awesome that you made a custom engine for this. The concept of vertically scaling in a tower defense is really interesting. Enjoyed playing this!
Good game and quite addictive ! I love the idea ! It's just a little bit frustrating to barely see at what level each element is at a glance.
It's an amazing idea for the Tetris gameplay and also fits the theme well, love it!!!
I really like the blocky style. A song would go a long way on the difficulty ramping though (I saw on your credits that you had music, but I had just the shooting sounds when I played).
The tutorial was a bit confusing regarding the "shop auto refresh", I assumed the shop was the lower part of the screen. Alsom, "Everything cost 2G" could be on the same line, to be clearer.
The firerate and the range blocks are a bit complicated for some color blind people to differ, just a heads up.
I really wish I could rotate blocks.
There could be a very rare "1 tile" block, that could be an easy mode haha.
I didn't understand exactly what counts as a tower, each tile is considered a tower? So a 4-sized block creates 4 towers?
Overall really cool tetris/tower defense mash. I managed to last 4 minutes only.
Thank you for your deep review ! Yes there is a background music but on some browser it may not play I didn't know I only tested the webbuild on chrome ( and some already told me about some issues on Firefox ).
I think that I will overhaul the entire premise of the tutorial to better showcase the tower stacking mechanics and yes the shop is the thing in the lower part of the screen !
I plan to release a color blind mode or at least some symbols to better showcase the differents types of tower !
The non rotation of the block is what makes it more challenging ;) ( Not that I didn't have the time to implement it, no no no... XD)
Yes each tile is a tower so a 4 block tile put 4 towers at once ! The damage ramp up comes from actually stacking them not how easy there are to put !
Hope you still managed to have a great time ! Thank you for taking the time to play the game and put a long review !
Very cool idea! I haven't seen anything like it before. It was real fun and I made it up to over 9 minutes. So close... Congrats!
Such a cool and creative idea. Respect and bonus points for custom engine. Congrats!
