Ey i thought its kinda finnicky and tedious because its very hard to not kill the player
I really like it tho
Cool concept and good execution. The flipped text was a very nice touch. Some text on what the abilities do wouldn't have hurt. I still don't know what the axes are supposed to do.
The knight is indeed adorably incompetent, felt like making myself lose against a kid without making it seem so.
Thanks for playing! And yeah, we realized description for each ability is missing but didn't have enough time to add it into the game.
But it's in the game's page if you still want to know :) https://flafy.itch.io/incompetent-knight
The game's mechanics are interesting, especially since you unlock abilities at every level.
That was just : so cool ! Congrats on this game I really like the idea that we have to fight "ourselves" to let a chance to the knight, really cool and I can totally see that in a longer game !
loved the idea! and the fact that the knight wasn't just a hero who would finish you off at two strikes
nice game!
Very creative idea. While the presentation wasn't great, I enjoyed it more than the majority of the games in the jam.
That's some juicy game feel! Love the cam shake, flipped text and concept!
Ahah this one is hilarious, I don't want to kill you buddy but you're juste so BAD at it... Didn't succeed the level where you have to use 2 red skills, I did try but I always ended accidentally crushing the poor guy
great game, i loved the idea and the execution
Wow that is one incompetent knight!
Very cool idea! Spotted it as another Boss versus hero kind of game (similar theme to mine!) but this was unique as you are trying to die by the hero! And man that knight is not very good lol. Overall though pretty good game. I beat it and saved princess knight (who hopefully is more competent??) I liked how you could choose which abilities you would get so you could tweak it to your play style. I will agree with the others though that it might be a little too hard in general. I think either extended the sword animation or making where the hero can touch you would help a bit. I the hero can touch you then the other abilities could be more impactful.
Overall though awesome job on this!! Great work!!
Thanks for the feedback! Perhaps we should have extended the knight's sword a bit.
Glad you enjoyed the game!
Super cool concept! I like how the text is reversed since you are viewing it from the boss's perspective! I also like the increasing difficulty. It is probably a little to hard, and I would've told the player a little more directly what to do, since if you don't get that you should be killed by the knight, the game doesn't progress. (maybe if you kill the knight twice?)
Very nice execution though! Seemed like you understood your scope really well and the coolest 'you are the boss' twist I've seen thus far. Selecting your own attack patterns is a really cool twist :)
Thank you so much for the comment! I appreciate the feedback. Perhaps we should have communicated better that the goal is to let the knight defeat you since it is a pretty novel concept
Really interesting premise, as I thought this was just going to be playing as the boss and having to defeat the player. The art is also amazing and definitely the best part. The game is really REALLY hard though, and the abilities you gain do not say what you gain. It also wasn't clear to me at first that you could only damage yourself if the knight already had his sword out. Even then, the sword is a bit small and the window is even smaller. Really good for a game jam though!
Thank you for the reply! We appreciate your feedback :D
