How does your game fit the theme?
The game fits, because you usually are a hero who receives a quest from a quest-giver, but in our game you are the quest giver, who needs to give the quests to the perefect-fitting hero. All of the heroes do have different character traits which define how they interact with different quests. Sending the wrong hero to the wrong quest may lead to a worsening of the situation.

Very cute! Though for some reason heroes occasionally walk right off the map instead of to their destination.
I like the idea of having to send a hero with the right traits to solve a quest, but it seems like I don’t really have enough heroes to be able to really take that into consideration. I often just have to ignore quests because my heroes can’t do them. And since failed quests seem to trigger other events in turn, things tend to collapse pretty fast.
Impressive the work you’ve done in such a short time. I liked the game, but not sure how many players will stay for a text-heavy game in a jam. Would be very fun to expand on, with more different things to do. Also love the art style.
Wow, what an impressive game considering the limited development time! The visuals are already stunning, and I really admire the well-implemented systems. I believe that adding some form of progression for the city, heroes, or quest giver in the future would elevate the game even further. Excellent job!
Hey, thanks a lot for your feedback, we really appreciate it.
And we love to hear that you like our artstyle :)
Regarding the progession system we are currently thinking about how to implement some kind of progression, but unfortunately we can't promise anything at this point in time :) Nonetheless we are planning to upload an update (focusing on bugfixes, better controls and a story update) as soon as it's allowed to upload updates according to the Game Jams rules.
So maybe you'd like to give it another try when the update drops :) We'd really appreciate your feedback :)
The style is great, the cover image looks especially good, I don't think it could have been better. The game as a whole, from a visual point of view, is done very well, there are no complaints here.
A small note on the controls design. It would be more intuitive if the hero assignment menu would also open when you double-click the left mouse button on the quest marker (on the map).
Matching the character's personality trait to the task is a bit of a guessing game of what the developer was thinking. I would recommend using classes or specializations in such cases. It's much easier to logically understand that children can be found by a ranger (hunter) than hot-tempered. And here it’s easier to think about which classes are responsible for what + it suits the style of adventurers, guilds and quest givers. So far, periodically you have to play by the scientific poke method. (but maybe its just my problems and classes would not do any better, than there is need to some additional system to clarify what character is good for what)
Tutorial, I would like to see it. The player immediately finds himself between a bunch of quests and running out of time. It was worth doing at least the first couple of quests with a huge time reserve, and letting the player study the mechanics in a more relaxed atmosphere.
As already mentioned in another comments, I would like to see a progression system with an ultimate goal.
Despite the above, great job, it's not easy to do such a visual style in 2 days with generally finished gameplay :)
Wow, many thanks for this massive feedback. It is very constructive and we appreciate it a lot! :)
First of all, we are happy to hear that you like the artstyle of our game. :)
Regarding the controls we agree, that they aren't really intuitive currently and we even plan to release an update with a lot of bugfixes and better controls as soon as it is possible according to the rules of the game jam. :)
Regarding the personality-traits we also agree that the game in it's current state does make a very bad job on explaining why a certain trait works out in a certain way. It feels very random currently. The main reason for this is that we only had something like 2 hours to make up some kind of story and it didn't work out very well :)
But you are right, we also should consider to change the traits to something else like specializations or classes, because the game would benefit a lot from having logical outcomes. :)
At least the game should explain what exactly happens and why a trait does what it does and a tutorial might help here a lot :)
So we also agree on your next point about the tutorial :) We also will think about how to pace the game a little bit better in the beginning.
The point about the progression system is also very interesting. We are currently thinking about how to implement it, so maybe we will implement it later on, but we can't promise anything at this point in time :)
And thank you very much for appreciating what we achieved in 2 days :)
We would really love if you'd try the game again after some updates. Your feedback is very helpful. So many thanks for taking your time! <3
You have a good idea but it is hard to play. I don't know how to choose the right hero for one task. Maybe need more tutorial. The art is so beautiful.
Many thanks for your feedback. We really love it that you are liking the art and the idea of our game :)
You are right that the game isn't currently explained very well and we are sorry for this, but unfortunately we needed to crunch a lot to finish it in time.
In case you didn't find out how to assign a hero for a quest:
Currently you can assign a hero by selecting one of the regions/places on the map. Afterwards you should be able to select a quest by clicking on a "quest-card" on the right side of the screen (I mean the cards within the panel on the right side of the screen). A window should open, where you should be able to choose a hero :)
In case you mean that you didn't really know which hero might be the best for a given quest:
We also agree that we didn't really explained this in the game, but we plan to update the game as soon as its possible according to the GMTK-Jams rules. Hopefully it will be better then :D
So if you'd like to, don't hesitate to give it another try as soon as the update releases :)
I don't know how to find which one is suitable for each quest.
There is a post jam. You can join it and hope I can see it again =3
Thank you for the clarification, then hopefully the update will make it better. :)
And thanks for telling us that a post jam exists. We would really like to join it :)
But were exactly can we do this? =3
https://itch.io/jam/post-jam-jam-7 this jam. I joined it too. I'm updating my game slowly :)))
Many thanks, we joined it. Looking forward to see your game again :)))
I didn't really understand the gameplay or which quests to prioritize because I was short-staffed and had no information on possible rewards.
Good visuals though.
Many thanks for playing our game and for your review. We really appreciate your constructive feedback. It helps a lot! :)
And you are right, the traits of the heroes are badly explained in the game. Also, we should have made it more clear that the goal is to protect the city from destruction and chaos (caused by the heroes). :) Unfortunately we didn't have much time to focus on the story and to explain the gameplay, because we needed to crunch a lot to finish it in time :'D
But we plan to update the game as soon as its possible according to the GMTK-Jams rules. Hopefully it will be better then :D
So if you're up for it, we'd love for you to give it another try once the new version comes out :)
Really nice presentation! and great concept! really well done!
Thank you so much! :D
I think this game need some kind of objective or at least a score. Good job on making this gamee you two !
Yeah, the game is kind of unpolished and should make it more apparent that the objective is to protect the city from destruction and chaos (caused by the heroes lol) for as long as possible. :D Guess we were too stressed to even implement gameplay and upload it. But thank you so much for playing and providing feedback, we really appreciate it! :)
I love the art, design and concept! And I can see how nice of a game it can be with more time developing it and making it more balanced. At times I felt like the quests just kept popping up and I didn't have enough heroes to fit them. I also liked the time thing there, but I feel like in the beginning it was moving a bit too fast, I guess I was looking for more gradual making tougher decisions than straight to the deep end at the beginning.
You still accomplished a lot in 48 hours!
Thank you so much, we really appreciate that you took the time, played it and even provided feedback - it‘s super helpful and constructive :) The quests just keeping popping up and the thing about pacing / timing / balancing is truly something to work on! We‘ll try to fix some of these things in the future after-jam-update :D
This is a really cool concept and the art is great! I love the management aspect, though it does feel like there a long periods where nothing's happening, especially when you only have one hero to give quests to at the beginning. I can only see this getting even better with some more quests and polish.
We were so happy you liked it and provided some constructive feedback!! :) This really helps a lot! We‘re also planning to update it after the jam is finished and look forward to add more story content and see if the pacing problems still remain. c:
For 48h of work on this, it's brilliant! I love the artwork and the cute design. It's a perfect match for this kind of game and invites me to wanting more of it! I hope you find time to continue your awesome work on this :3 I would definetly continue playing it! Keep it up :3
Thanks for your amazing comments and feedback! :D We were really happy to see that you liked the concept and design :3 Actually, we‘re already working on some updates for an after-jam-version - there‘ll be more story and trait-triggering events (and some fixes, of course :D). We‘d love it if you‘d test it again sometime when it‘s updated! ^-^
Very unique concept! Although the game left me wanting more, that is often the case for game jams. I very much enjoyed the micro-managing along with choosing who to send where. The traits affecting the results is a really cool idea, but I wish it wasn't so restrictive. I sent every hero I got to go investigate the graveyard but nothing ever happened D:
Many thanks for your review and for playing our game :) We really appreciate this :D It's nice to hear that you liked our concept, but we are a little bit sad that we left you wanting more. :)
BUT: I think that we have some great news for you, because we plan to upload a new version as soon as it is allowed to do this according to the GMTK-Gamejam rules :)
There will be a lot of bugfixes we already implemented, but most importantly, we plan to add a small story update to the game! :)
And we are sorry to hear that you encountered the issue with the graveyard. This also will change in the next version :D
So if you would like to, we'd be very happy if you tried it again when we release the new version :)
Loved the music! I think it was put on one loop? I wanted to listen to it longer during the game :) The art and idea are also very good!
Many thanks for your review and for playing our game :) We love to hear that you liked the art, the idea and the music :D
The art and idea were made by us, but the music wasn't. It is by Alexandr Zhelanov. So please feel free to check out his page on opengameart.org.
Furthermore we plan to upload a new version as soon as it is allowed to do this according to the GMTK-Gamejam rules :)
There will be a lot of bugfixes we already implemented (the music bug you mentioned is included).
AND: We also plan to include a small story update to the game! :)
So please feel free to play it again, when we release the new version. We really would appreciate that :)
