this is very well thought game! i think you could add in a cut scene to show that the hero has arrived. or even make a map to show where all the heroes are at, and allow the boss to go find them?

Wow this is fantastic! I spotted it because it's another "You are the BOSS" type game, just like mine! Though thematically similar we have very different styles! I'm enjoying seeing all the other games within out little Boss-like mini genre.

I really loved the very intro were it acts like you are going to go up against the boss so you attack... and then the character gets 1 hit! It's great! I like your companion person that provides some context. Music is also awesome and fits well with the game. The multi-stage attacks are a good touch too to differentiate up things!

I don't really have much negative to say. I didn't make it super far both times I tried it (round 5 each, guess I'm a weak boss). Maybe one thing is the enemies/spells did seem a bit rock/paper/scissory. I noticed the enemies became *random element* & *random character*. I might have preferred slightly more personalized characters. But this is just me being extremely picky trying to find something that might be able to be improved.

Overall really great entry into the jam! I loved the bit of humor and everything here. Fine work with this!!

Really cool game!
It actually made me feel like a boss in an rpg, was quite fun to play and repel the heroes. I also really like the art, it looks good and has it's own vibe. I think it could easily be expanded upon by adding some minions, that would be on your team, or just making the fights have an impact. Like instead of dying and losing, the boss would respawn but heroes would now have some special items that drop from the boss, and boss could also upgrade themselves etc. Apart from that, I think the whole weakness/resistance could be more explained, because sometimes it feels like it barely does any impact, but obviously there is a time limit and not everything can make it in. Overall it's a very solid entry!

The original plan had heroes having special loot or buffs and the boss selecting different perks every wave, besides just the magic element, somewhat similar to what you mentioned. And certainly, I agree that there was more work to do with damage numbers, sadly the time limitations didn't allow me to test balance as thoroughly as I would have wanted.

Thank you for playing the game and for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed your time playing it!

I LOVED this game. Might be my favorite entry so far. Having different actions cost you more turns fits the feeling of "generic big boss battle" very well, and was an inspired touch. The game is quite pretty and polished, enough so that I played it multiple times. You guys did a really good job.

This would be the part where I would offer some constructive criticism on how the game could be improved, but not much  sticks out. Especially in the context of a game jam. I suppose some visual feedback of how many turns you're inactive for would be nice. It wouldn't change anything mechanically, but I think it would make what's happening easier to understand, make it easier to keep track of how many more hits you're about to take, and give some tension as your waiting for that number to hit zero so you can act again.

Thanks a lot for playing the game and writing a review, glad you enjoyed your time with it!

Visual feedback is certainly something I wish we had more time to add to. The turn-cooldown counter is a great idea that didn't even cross my mind! And it would've been great to let the player keep track of the heroes' buffs as well. Perhaps show a couple of things like elements more visually rather than through text. But you know how it goes, I am still very satisfied with what we managed to accomplish.

And definitely nerf that Rogue haha... Such a problematic little rascal she turned out to be...

She sure did! I remember one run I was trying to heal up while she was the only enemy on the field. Pretty sure she took me down all by herself anyway, if I recall correctly.

It's still a really impressive game, though! And to be honest, I'd think balance and fine-tuning is where jam games struggle the most. So I wouldn't get too hung up over it.

i really liked this game, the dialogue gives a whole new depth to the game because of the sheer amount of it, the music was intense and fit the game very well, the artwork was also very crisp, overall this game is very polished and i enjoyed playing it, i do think you could have made some of the weaknesses and stuff more impactful and maybe added a way to find out whats weak against what while in battle, im a little forgetful lol.

I agree that visual clarity is something we could've improved upon if given more time. More visual information about elements' interactions would've been great indeed, so I'll be sure to keep it in mind! Thanks for trying the game and for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed playing it.
