OMG the sound effects! haha. The game itself is pretty nice and fun, congrats!
I love the art and the sound effects are hilarious. I like the mechanic of the slimes melding together, but it feels like a lot of other games in this jam. Still, amazing that you built something that feels pretty polished in just 48 hours.
I personally don't like the slimes jumping on each other thing. The slimes are round, so it's not clear that they can stack stably at all, and when you miss the stack, the slimes tend to orbit around each other in a way that looks like they can't be stacked. I would say maybe add a flat surface to the slimes so it's clearer that they can stack on top of each other like that, but also the rolling is so darn cute....
IDK, that's going to have to be a design call that you make. Maybe you just need a simpler level to introduce that? Maybe have the goals kinda in the middle of the screen where you'd stack them instead of on the sides, so it's clear what the end-goal is?
Thanks for the feedback! I agree, it's not obvious the slimes could be stacked, we had intended to add a soft body physics to make it feel a bit more stackable while maintaining the rolling around but unfortunately didn't have enough time to implement it. Definitely something to keep in mind for next time. Thank you for playing!
the art and music as well as overall mechanics work well, and make the game quite enjoyable. however the jump sound effects are a little out there, if thats what you were going for well done, and the loop for the music could be improved a little
This was super fun, the central mechanic is well thought out and fits the theme perfectly and the whole game is brilliantly executed and presented. Plus those sound effects crack me up xD
Very cute and and a fun concept! I did have a bit of trouble on level 4 as your description predicted, but once I understood you could jump off the other slimes then it made a lot more sense and was much easier. A solid concept and very well made! Good job :)
Very cool concept! The sound effects really added to the game, the puzzle on level 4 seemed like it could've introduced jumping off slimes in a better way, but overall a fun game!
Fun little idea and very well put together. Level 4 just felt unfair to me though! Maybe if slimes jumping off each other had been introduced in a simpler puzzle?
Simple but really cool idea and well implemented. I especially like the art. Good Job!
Clicked for the art, then it was a bit difficult to me, but stayed for the sounds and passed level 4, yay! Good job overall :)
A charming puzzle platformer. I love the jump sounds, that surprised and delighted me.
I think there are some great ideas here, but as another commenter said the mechanical requirements to pull off some of the techniques are pretty demanding for a game in this genre. I knew the solution, but struggled to perform the necessary mechanical steps. I think you've got a good idea here, but refining some of the controls so the mechanics can be pulled off consistently.
nice game and art, reminded me of the flash game days and gave me some nice nolstagia
Fascinating puzzle game which is, in my opinion, a bit hindered by its mechanical demands. Let me explain:
First some good things:
I was pleasantly surprised by the art first. Then the sound hit. That's a good laugh and I'm literally giving it a 5 stars on presentation from that alone. You are bold, I'll give you that.
Controls feel good and character movements are alright actually. For something with platforming elements, it's important to nail those down and you've dunnit!
My main caveats:
As a mainly puzzle-focused game with platforming mechanics required, I think your design decisions may have some mishaps. In level 3 and 4, you've stated that the opposite slimes can jump off each other, which is a fine mechanic on its own, but it still requires precision that typical puzzle players may lack. Your level 4 solution is a very literal example of that, requiring mechanical timing and precision to solve a puzzle.
In other words, the players may know the solution of the puzzle, but be frustrated that they cannot execute it. This is an issue I've faced previously and am trying to design accordingly to avoid it now.
Overall, a pleasant surprise. Good job!
Thanks for playing! We've noticed that level 4 was much harder than we had anticipated, and in fact the only reason we found it so easy when playtesting ourselves was because we were unknowingly abusing a bug! (Slimes can air jump after they collide which made level 4 much more forgiving.) Next time we will definitely have other people playtesting to ensure puzzles are appropriate. Thank you for the feedback!
I cant stop laughing playing this game, fun & charming, I like the whole aesthetic you are going for too. Clever mechanic btw, jumping into each other for objects with different gravitational pull. The puzzles are hard, but fortunately with the sfx, you cant help but stay cheerful :D
Really interesting concept with incredible level design. Loved the Sound effects too.
