Update: We have updated the game with the fixed AI! It is much easier to play now :D

It's got kind of a borderlands look to it that looks really cool! It's definitely more of a puzzle type game than I was expecting where you need to know where you're moving to and what you're in sight of. My strategy was to absolutely never fire, just jump back and forth and try to survive haha. Definitely think the post jam version will be really fun!

Developer

Glad you had fun! Yeah that's a good strategy haha. No time to shoot and move. We're excited to get the updated version out to play!

Update: We have made a change to our AI that makes it function the way we initially wanted to, and we'll be updating the game when the voting period is done.

Gameplay is very hard, and kind of frustrating. But the overall looks and sounds are very well made!

Hi andrebariani,

Thanks for playing! We unfortunately ran out of time to get our AI working the way we wanted it to, and as such the game is VERY difficult. But we're very proud of our visuals and sound effects!

*Update: We made a change that makes the AI much more reasonable. That update will be available as soon as we are allowed to update the game file on Itch.

Nice, looking foward to it!

Cool idea, jumping from turret to turret as they destroy each other. Very difficult, I almost beat the first level but got stuck in a position where the only other turret was out of sight and I couldn't jump to it.

Hi cjgunnar,

Thank you for your feedback! We are definitely aware of the difficulty. This was our first Unreal project (former Unity devs) and, as such, our first time using Unreal's AI Behavior Trees. Unfortunately we ran out of time to get the AI right and now it is WAY too difficult.

Thanks for playing!

The difficulty of this game is pretty evident; every turret I tried to hack into basically resulted in me being shot practically immediately, which I felt was an issue because no matter which turret I picked, I was instantly punished. Maybe perhaps look at focusing turrets when the player starts an action as opposed to immediately hacking?

Both levels however look rather pretty, and your art and sound choices were fitting for self-created audio and graphical design choices. Good stuff, but the difficulty was very off-putting.

Hi Romulator!
Thank you for the feedback! We were definitely aware of the extreme difficulty with our AI turrets. We formerly made our games in Unity; however we have decided to make the switch to Unreal for various reasons, and this Jam was a sort of "test" for us to review what we have learned about Unreal for the last few months. This was our first time making AI in Unreal, and we went with using Behavior Trees. Unfortunately we ran out of time to get our AI to the point we wanted it to :(

Thank you for playing our game!

A really pretty game this one! I think I saw the game over screen more times in a short period of time than I'm proud of but its a pretty cool idea

Hi Skett!

Thanks for the feedback! Our AI is definitely way too hard in this game; unfortunately we ran out of time to really nail the AI processes :(
