Beautiful looking game with a nice atmosphere
However i couldn't really figure out how to progress that far, i was able to move, pick up, and put down the sprout, i was only able to jump once and couldn't figure out how i did so :/ (i don't know if you intended on having the character being able to jump just once), I also encountered a small glitch, when i reached the big rock at the begining, some times when picking the sprout back up the character animation wouldn't play correctly and in would slide around whith the sprout floating in front of me.
To be fair though, it still feels like a good idea, the art and music really draw you in, and i liked the Black and white aestetic with the sprout being the only touch of color there :) You might have overscoped a bit, still the game really feels like it has a lot of effort put into it !
Keep at it you've got a strong base despite the current flaws, and especially considering it's your first jam, you did great ^^
A beautiful thing that could've been great if only there was a way to know what to do and how to do it.
Sadly, there weren't a least bit of tutorials in it. Sad. Just like the beautiful sad music in it. With the beautiful sad looking lonely little rabbit.
I was pressing buttons, but none worked. So i gave up on the first obstacle platform.
I like the art and music. An interesting idea that could be expanded. Unfortunately it's easy to get into a fail state if you drop the plant past the branch or drop it off the level.
Lovely concept! It took a bit of patience but I managed to figure out the controls and the mechanics and I took the sprout to the top of the mountain. I think this has a lot of potential, I hope you guys keep developing it.
Thanks for taking the time in "completing" the game haha! During the jam we made assets for different levels, animation, and sounds but couldn't put everything together in time. Now that the jam's over we want to continue working on Sprout to give it the chance it deserves!
You have a beautiful art style! It's cute and somber.
I like how you took the "Just One" concept with its aesthetic rather than its mechanic.
A minor complaint: movement on slopes feels awkward, the character keeps jittering a bunch. And the character flew up when they placed the sprout down on a slope.
Yeah there's definitely issues with the physics on the slopes that we want to fix, but the character flying up is an odd bug that we didn't catch! General movement and physics is something we'll need to take a closer look at.
Thanks for the compliments and feedback!
The artwork and sound were nice, but I wasn't sure how to bring the plant to the top of the mountain. I figured out how to put down the plant, jump, and pick it back up. Was there more than that?
Thanks for playing! We had designed and made all of the assets for the game we wanted to make. In the end it was a little too ambitious trying to put everything together in Unity with the time and our skill, but you bet we learned lots along the way.
Sprout is about the last sprout in the world. The sprout itself was designed to be both the motivation for the story and the mechanic for puzzles and enemies in the game. The deer in the background was one of those planned enemies, and the mountain was supposed to be the final scene with two main sections planned between the beginning area and the mountain.
