It feels like the single-player for this was kind of last minute. It looks like 2 player, but with the computer controlling the other player. Since the AI always fires the same way each time (per level) and you only get one shot, it just means it's target aiming with a timer and is slow to go to the next attempt when you miss.

I also found the aiming to be rather precise. I wonder if playing on a controller with a keyed analog stick (like the GameCube controller) would result in this game being easier.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! It certainly does work better against another person. The aiming and reset speed are definitely the things to work on most like you mention, I think both came from being too used to playing over the 48 hours!

Nice game. Main thing I found though is that getting a good shot is quite tricky - especially when the AI can always nail a perfect shot.
Not sure if that's my controller though (using a duelshock4 and 3rd-party software, not an Xbox controller).
Or I'm just bad with analogue sticks ^^;

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, aside from the AI the aiming is definitely the bit I want to change the most. Currently I'm thinking the rotation speed should change to get slower with how far away your target is, although that may end up just feeling really weird!

Challenging game, really neat idea! I included it in my GMTK Game Jam 2019 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Thanks for giving it a play! Highlighted one of the biggest issue we had which was the aiming being far too quick at higher distances.

Nice and simple concept! I enjoyed it

Nice concept ! I'm gonna catch a friend to play it in multi because I figure the design is calibrated that way (damn you perfect AI!!).

Developer

Hah, yeah the AI may be a little over tuned since we played it so much and the levels over the weekend!

Yeah we all do that. That's why we are the worst playtesters xD

I only have one small criticism.

I didn't try it on multiplayer, and when on single player the AI version seems to always get a perfect shot of way quicker than I could manage to work out the best angle. Would it be better to have a range the AI would fire within that may fall out of the player's hitbox to give the player a slightly better chance.

You could also have the AI pick between three targets, one being the right one and the two others miss shots, giving the player a fighting chance.

However I do understand that the point was to only have one shot just thinking more for taking the game forward if you wanted to remove the single shot you could potentially give the player and AI limited ammo instead.

See just a small criticism XD

but seriously, I really did enjoy it don't let the above make you think otherwise, it was just difficult for me to play at first until I managed to adapt.

Thanks for the kind words! The AI certainly needs some work. We did try it being imperfect, but it loses a bit of the intensity if you know if might miss.

Maybe a quicker return in between rounds would help.

Good job guys, would make a good mobile puzzle game!

Gotta make that one shot count. Good little game guys! Well Done
