Challenging game! I included it in my GMTK Game Jam 2019 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

The idea was great, but the mechanic sadly don't there were a lot of cases where a double tap was interpreted as a single one.

I enjoyed this. Interesting take on the theme and the various endings are neat.

The only issue I ran into was that often my single jump was read as a "hold" so I'd run instead of jumping which got a bit frustrating. It might have been me not dealing well with the timing thing mentioned in an earlier comment but it was a small distraction in an otherwise great experience!

Superb visuals and atmosphere!  Great visual clarity from the art used.  The character had great weight, and building up momentum and hitting jumps felt great when I pulled it off!

For me the single button control system got in the way a bit too much.  Some areas in the level were difficult because I couldn't reliably get the character to do what I wanted. This is worst in the tap/double tap case.  For me, multiple button controls, and expressing the theme elsewhere in the design would have been preferable.

The level design was good.  The tutorial area (and title screen) really helped me get comfortable with the idea.  I blazed past the sign that let me know I was heading into the different endings part of the level, so maybe that could have been placed next to a blocking point or a jump or something, but otherwise it worked really well.  I got strong sonic vibes from the 2nd half, falling down and trying to get back up.  I can't believe how polished this feels for a first game jam submission!

Great game. I really like the atmosphere. Only thing to improve is responsiveness. Only got the ending with some quote after going all the way to the right. Climbing up is really hard.

First try, got past the "go right to find your ending" sign, and kept running. I then missed a jump and ended up in "depression land". Attempted to climb out of depression and got stuck in a portion of ground when I jumped while underneath it.

So second try...

Managed to get all the way to a friend and then fell like super far and ended up in the ice part again, where I kept falling until I couldn't get back up and then was left alone in an ice cave with a dark quote from Dag Hammarskjold.

All in all it was great, nice concept but I think I've not got the dexterity to get any other ending than what I got.

Good job. Everything looks and feels polished. Well done.

Thank you for the comments really proud of this, which ending did you get?

Submitted(+1)

I did not play till the end. To many games to play =).

I absolutely love the idea of only one key to control things! Very nice choice! The game is well done and feels appropriate with the 1 key button controls. The biggest issue I had with it is that there was a significant delay between trying to jump and the character actually jumping, it made it quite hard to do some of the platforming. Other than that you did great!

Quirk of the coding i'm afraid, the jump actually executes 0.1 seconds after you release the key as thats the only way i could think of making it work, thank you for the feed back, which ending did you get?

I feel you could fine tune it to reduce that 0.1 seconds and still make it work well since that was one of the biggest issues in my opinion. As for endings, once I got over to the ice area I just ran across the lower ground the whole time till I hit the end. So I got the ending that corresponds to that location.

The concept is nice and i really like the slippery sonic like movement, you might look into bug fixing the collision though, since i've managed twice to get stuck in the terrain during a jump.

Thanks for the feed back, glad you enjoyed the concept will see if i can get that fixed in the next hour :D
