Cool man, this was definitely cozy. Really impressive visuals, I'll have to check out the GDC talk, I'm curious what exactly you did to achieve this look. I also need to finally play A Short Hike lol. Good choice of music. I like the wind particle and the ocean. I like that your penguin can fly.

I haven't played (or heard of until now) A Short Hike, so I don't know how this one compares to it. But I do know I enjoyed my time exploring a small place as a curious penguin. 🐧

As a note, the game played perfectly fine with keyboard and mouse, but playing it using a controller would cause the character to randomly stop moving after a short while.

A very cute, relaxing experience!

Oh, I think I remember the inspiration for your game, just don’t remember the name. But you did you a nice job with this. One thing I’ve noticed is that the shadows might be a bit too dark. I don’t use unreal, but can you change the shadow color to something like blue? I bet it would looka a lot nicer. Otherwise, great job! I bet you cold expand this outside of the jam and get something pretty nice.

Thank you so much for playing! It was A Short Hike by Adam Robinson-Yu! I think that was his name, and I loved that little game, it's around 7.99 on here. I agree about the shadows, finding a good mix in post processing and lighting effects is tough.

I do want to expand on this kind of game it was so much fun and felt like less pressure to design. Using the updrafts as a platforming mechanic to explore broken islands and maybe sailing too on wavey seas could work. Lots more testing to do for something like that though.

Interesting game. Very cool style. I like the overall design. The run is very "Naruto" or old anime style haha. Thanks for submitting! :)

Thanks for playing! It was inspired by A Short Hike, the perfect game of this kind. I tried to get a good animation but my modelling and animation skills are very much "retro" inspired to make up for my lack of skill.

I love A Short Hike. I feel you executed well from the inspo. You got skills. Don't downplay yourself. Keep at it :)
