This looks really cool!
cool, never played turn based tower defense! GJ
Not sure how this relates to the game-jam theme, but I love me some tower defense. Not played a turn-based version of it before and I think it really works. Nice job.
Very fun strategy turn-based game.
I probably could spend hours playing it.
Great visuals and interface.
Just a heads up: The UI doesn't scale well in the embedded browser window.
Good game!
Nice job creating the beginnings of a turn based tower defense game!
I had some trouble grasping the game mechanics at first.
Initially I placed all the turrets at the bottom, but then realised enemies were spawned at the top and had to reset. I didn't realise at first that I also had to shoot during my turn - I thought the turrets would auto-shoot somehow. When holding a turret to place, you can't shoot at the same time.
Eventually I figured it all out - but letting you know what issues I ran into in the beginning.
The visuals of the game look really great. Awesome job at creating an initial UI as well.
Great job at creating a game and submitting!
Thanks! I didn't have enough time to make a tutorial, but I plan on adding one once the game jam is over. You can also move your view by using WASD if you didn't know that already.
Nice Submission! Well made!
a little music would have made it a little less ... hrm I liked the looks a lot!
The idea is pretty cool. The balancing is still a bit hard.
A few points I noticed:
It takes a long time until you can build something again.
It would also be cool to show the difference of the different towers a bit better at the beginning.
At the first start I didn't know where the target point of the enemies is and from where the first enemies come. Maybe that could be worked out a bit more.
For a solo project in such a short time, great work.
Thanks! I didn't have much time for balancing, but I will continue to update this game once the game jam is over. I think a quick tutorial displaying how everything works would help out a lot for players. I think the map could be reworked a bit too, or just add a few more maps.
Thanks for your support!
Make more maps and the first map smaller. Maybe only with one spawn point - like a tutorial, and with the next map make more. I will follow you. I would like to see, what you make with your project. :D
Good ideas! Thanks for following me! I think I might make the level selection screen a galaxy map with different planets that each have their own unique features.
sounds nice:D
This is a cool looking concept!
Some thoughts:
Thanks for you feedback! I whipped up the menu screen in the last few minutes, so I wasn't able to put much effort into it. I will be completely redoing the menu in the future. Deselecting towers by default I think will help make the game feel smoother and I might add some hotkeys to make the gameplay feel quicker and easier.
Sound effects and music is my weak point. I was able to get some good free sound effects of Zapsplat.com but I have a hard time finding free, royalty free music. I will try to add some at some point. If you know of any sites I can look at for free music feel free to let me know!
Thanks!
The main menu looks great in my opinion!
For sound, freesound is a great option. For example, looking for "techno loop" and CC0, I found this two in the first page:
It's fun, but be careful not to spend too much time on music, it can suck you in without you realizing it :D.
Hi there! What I had in mind for the menu screen was a better and more detailed "how to play" and maybe a settings button. And the "Play game" button would be changed to a level select button.
Thanks for the help with music! I try to spend most of my time on programming and graphics and not much time on music. Sometime I would like to learn how to make good sound effects and music although that would take even more time than just searching for some. :)
I really found myself getting into this game. I love turn based games. The controls were a little rough to get use to. I found myself clicking on the sell tower button if an enemy I was trying to target was below my tower. You may want to move that one since it happens immediately no targeting after that necessary. Some music would go along way as well. I think the you would also benefit from having some pitch variance in the sounds as well. All in all this was a super addictive and fun game.
Thanks a lot! I appreciate the feedback! I will work on adjusting the turret menu to make it less clunky. I threw in the sound effects on the last day, so I didn't really put a whole lot of effort into it. Adding a pitch variance will definitely be near the top of my to-do list!
Again, thanks for the feedback! I will continue working on this game as long as people seem to enjoy it!
Nice turn based game, interesting mechanics and gameplay. Nice work.
A very polished game! Great work. Just flip in some music and it is top notch!
Very cool, love neon UI and environment :)
awesome game really enjoyed my playthrough. Great work.
rate4rate?
Thanks a lot! I had a ton of fun creating it! I'll try out your project!
Hi, I noticed your submission is missing source. Your source is everything someone needs to download your game, open it in the game engine, and hit Play to play the game.
Oh, I forgot about that! Thanks! What would be the easiest way to include source?
Delete the Library folder, then zip it and upload the zip to the submission or the page.
Alright, I added source! Is everything good now?
The Source file on the page is a 22 byte file that is empty. Please try uploading your source again.
Oops, sorry! I forgot to put the game in the zip file! I think I got it right this time!
It looks good now :)
