I love the idea behind this but it started to feel a little repetitive after a little while. It could have done with some different pacing or more variety to keep it feeling a little fresher
(This is the second game on the video)
Contemplative Music, paired with stellar Visuals, overall great mood set for this experience.
Only issue I found was that the player gets ONE scrolls usage per level, why not have a cool down? I'd love to keep trying to get the character to the "finish line". maybe consider putting a more obvious goal at the end of the level. Have you ever played lemmings before? very much a similar concept except you are controlling large volumes of characters. Anyway- I like this game and would check it out again if it is still being developed further.
Haha yea this game was super inspired by lemmings! I wanted to try the route with having sort of special characters as opposed to a ton of clones. I don't think I'm going to develop this anymore, but I am glad you liked it and saw the influence!
Gorgeous pixel art, but the game itself lacks feedbacks for the duration of the speed ups, monster patterns etc, and the tutorial is not intuitive at all.
The potential is incredible
I appreciate the feedback!
well done! Really enjoyed the gameplay and how you introduced different abilities and characters expanding the gameplay options.
I do agree with Cam that scrolling wasn't really necessary and just added unnecessary time to the gameplay.
Cheers!
Awesome, glad you liked it! Will definitely look into polishing up stuff like that for the future, thanks for the feedback :)
Amazing game, congratulations! It has a very complete feeling. A couple of minor gripes:
This is one of the highlights of the game jam. A pleasure to play and an incredible achievement for your first ever game.
Really appreciate the feedback. Will look into tuning things like the camera showing all you need and making gameplay tighter overall. And thank you for the kind words :)
You're welcome! Just to reiterate, the levels that were more than a few units of scrolling are fine staying longer. They give a good reason to scroll. It's only the ones where the finish trigger was just off screen that I had issue with. I'd just bring those finish lines back to fit in the single screen. It could even be a case of forcing the game to a 16:9 or even wider ratio (with letterboxing) to better suit the gameplay!
I was really impressed by the level design. In my view, the amount of "close calls" that I had after placing portals and winning is testament to the superb level design. It's also amazing how complete the game feels. The art is beautiful and the animation fits perfectly.
Although I really enjoyed the music, it didn't seem to fit the game for me.
This is one of the best games I've played in the jam. Excellent work!
That means a lot, thank you!
I really liked the visuals on this one, and the mechanics were interesting! I enjoyed it :)
Amazing work I really liked it. Great job!
This is game is great. One of the more polished in the game jam. I would add a way to cancel the spells.
Thank you, appreciate the kind words!
And you actually can, just right click to cancel. I thought I updated it recently to add text showing that, but I may need to make it clearer
Fantastic artwork! Really liked the mod you set, and the consistent presentation made the game anjoy to play. Nice work!
I'm glad it was enjoyable for you! Thank you :)
Did a video highlight of your entry and a brief breakdown of your source:
That's awesome! I appreciate all the feedback for sure, will definitely take into consideration for the next project. Thanks for the positive notes as well :)
Stunning how much content you managed to create for a gamejam project! Great game!
Glad you liked it! Thank you :)
And if you're referring to the art, I can't take credit for the background and sprites! I obtained them for free from Ansimuz and Luiz Melo! If you need some quality pixel art give them a look!
I was talking mainly about the amount of levels and different mechanics. Thanks for sharing your art source though!
