I was confused.

I did figure out how to jump.  I looked in the options and saw that x, a, and b were supposed to do something.  I was not clear what the equations on the screen were supposed to be or how the controls were related to them.  This is definitely a game that could benefit from a tutorial.

That said, when I had a jump that went well, it was extremely fun and kinda made up for the many dozens upon dozens that didn't.  I have no idea why sometimes I jumped very far and other times seemed to barely move at all, but it seems like the core gameplay is fun when it works.  It's just too hard to figure out what you are doing or even how to do it.

I still feel curious about the game because surely there's something good in here, I just couldn't figure it out.

Developer

first of all, thank you for playing and giving feedback. X, A and B related to the controller function. You can read more about the controls in the description. One important thing i understood, is building every game with a tutorial for the future. That seems to be a big point for the player, to get used to the controls. Thank you again, for your feedback. I am gonna keep that point in mind for the next gamejams ;)

Sadly I could not get far, I got stuck inside some rock and the jump did not work. The controls needs a bit of treat, when the game start you cant move just with wasd, you have to press shift for it to start..

Otherwise I liked the jump feel, it was very setisfying haha

Developer

thank you for trying out. The Download-Version has a better performance and is recommended to play.

Awesome! I liked it a lot!
Took me a little while understanding how the jump mechanic worked. But as soon as I figured it out, I had a lot of fun jumping around and rewinding the time! I didn't get a good first-impression of the jump-mechanic (look down instead of up), but I quickly came to love it!
Getting higher and higher and walking around on all these weird objects truly felt like an adventure!
Unfortunately the game got stuck when I came to the guitar. Huge frame-drops when walking on the strings, and then I got stuck at the guitar-hole, and couldn't move, jump or rewind my way out. That's too bad, because I was really enjoying the game at that point!!
The time-rewind is a brilliant way to let the player go higher and higher without the fear of falling down :) and btw, the music sounds great

Developer

Big thank you. I also had problems in the browser-version with the guitar-part. Maybe to much vertices. The download-version is more promising to play. This gamejam thaught me to make tutorials for my future games, though i wrote the "how to play" in the browserdescription. i know nobody likes to read, me aswell ;) gonna stick to have tutorials in all my future games. Very glad to have your feedback.

You're welcome!

Yeah I learned a lot about tutorial making during this jam too. Especially since my game desperately needed one because of its super weird mechanics xD

I did not get far, saddly I could not get the controlls to work. I expected the time power to turn back time and move me to my start position but that did not really happen. Maybe it would be better to have litte challenges at the beginning of your game with some explenations while you are completing them, like a playable tutorial, just to get the player used to your mechanics. I do like the atmosphere tho :)

Developer

thank you, i really recommend to play the download-version. because the performance/physics in the browser is not  stable. But i noted your point, good feedback

I would make the game fullscreen so my mouse wont go off bounds; it was very hard to control the player. I found that at times, you can jump properly. The aim with the jump is inversed, when you look down, the aim goes higher, and when you look up, the aim goes down. The playback reverse skill was epicly cool, you can undo the things you've done. And the music gives a chill ambiance as well.

I didn't like the game, but I did find the concept and art interesting.

thank you, sir

I don't really like the idea of introverted mouse jump, it was really hard to control. And if you should probably write directly in the game that the player can rewind time, it took me some time before I accidentally realized that, trying to respawn the level ahah.

But once I realized that, it was cool, because it really gave me the vibe of a "Braid" and "Prince of Persia"games. I love the concept, and visuals are interesting. So, good job!

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, indeed the inverted JumpAngle is intended.  Thought it would be challenging, nice to get this feedback. A more easy way would be a fixed camera with adjusting angle in this way. Maybe a Post-Jam feature to implement . thanks

It was a bit hard to control with the mouse, but fun nevertheless. Liked the main menu animation tuned in with the music :D

Developer

hehe thank you :) *clap clap clap clap*

I think the jump aiming is inverted using the mouse, so looking down jumps you up, makes it very hard to aim high since you have to look at the ground.

Developer

Yes, i hoped the player likes the challenge of such controls. I will think about to change it, later.
