I had way more fun with this than I thought I was going to initially starting out. Once I figured out the mechanics and that I had to build more platforms I just started planting and harvesting and got lost for a little bit. Music was really nice to set the atmosphere, gameplay was simple yet satisfying, the added idea of getting to build your own platformed garden is pretty cool (and could clearly be expanded upon). One of my low key favorites from the jam.
This would work great on mobile but I also think you could easily release this on Steam for a small fee and get people playing; people would easily get lost zoning out playing this (especially while watching/listening to something like a lot of gamers). Also I like that you streamed some of the development (personally I ended up streaming starting the idea and then nothing else lol). Followed you; I'll have to go look back at the vods.
Quite impressing what you delivered within 13 days! It's just planting funny plants but somehow it's hard to stop :) : "Just this last batch of solar oranges and then I will be rich and buy an island on the maledives...". 3 minutes later: "Lets plant another batch and go for two island..." :D.
I harvested solar oranges.
In space, no one can hear you talking to your plants.
Great job, the concept of buying space before expanding is really interesting, I like how you begin with only 1 platform.
Thanks for the feedback. That is exactly what I was aiming for. I'm glad you liked it!
Loved the game, first one that felt more like a steam game than a game jam game.
Tip for players. Make planters in horizontal rows then hold up and left or down and right while spamming E for speed planting/harvesting.
Note: you cannot leave space by building out a few thousand blocks... its infinite... and if you fall you will get teleported all the way back to base. (sad life)
On the negative... at 4 digit wealth your last digit is cut off. Over 10k you lose a digit entirely. Fun game.
Hah, I tried the same. After about a minute the player disappears, but still able to move and build. It was a good pastime while I was waiting for the solar oranges to grow.
Wow thank you very much! I really appreciate that. Sorry about the money clipping. There's lots of tricks on placing the planters that I left in for people to find. Such as walking between planters with only 0.5 of a square and you can sneak through the corners of some of them where they meet.
Chill little game! I really like it! The gameplay itself has some room for improvement. The controls are a bit overcomplicated. The least would be some hotkeys for the buttons, the most would be simplifying the whole into a single, context-sensitive action key, except the building of the different planters, etc. And since the obstacles are grid-based, the movement should be also grid-based. There is no need for pixel perfect precision when I'm walking around the orchard. Anyways, I liked that there is no penalty for falling into the void.
The theme is spot on, this would be a nice future. I like your choice of genre as well, but I would have liked to see your personal twist on it, just a few original gameplay-related ideas.
The graphics are cute, the particles around the ripe fruits are a nice touch.
And the music is perfect. I bet that my solar oranges grew faster just because the relaxing music.
Thank you so much for your feed back and it will definitely be on my mind for the future. I was very close to redoing the whole movement system but I had something come unfortunately. I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
Very cool one! This game is one of my favourite on this jam. I think, everybody likes farming :)
Would be cool though if you add progress saving, at least using local storage. Also feedback sounds would add flavour ;)
Thank you very much! I liked your game as well! Saving would have been cool. Next time haha
I love my orchard of solar oranges. I will monopolise the economy.
Haha if you do that I will have to add more plants ;)
