so cute and fun game, I like the fact that controls are a variation of WASD and uses ESDF, congrats!!

It took me 5 attempts to beat the AI, and I had a lot of fun along the way. I found the default AI well balanced. The controls seemed the right amount of frustrating. I imagine this would be a lot of fun in two player mode.
My fingers kept going back to WASD on their own and cost me a few games, but you were just following a different country's keyboard layout. I'll try to support AZERTY keyboards in my next game.
I enjoyed the art and sound and overall the experience seemed nicely polished.

its a fun game, the fish is a bit hard ton control with precison but i think it adds fun so i don't mind it
the pixel art is great and so is the music, the option to play Vs cpu or local 2p is great too
(and there's multiple fish option too)

Fun game with good physics. I'm glad that CPU was an option and it was decent enough. Variety of possible fishes was great. Nice pixel art. I was confused at first at controls, because I didn't properly see the mapping and just assumed it's WASD. Great job!
thanks so much! I think you're not the only one that had issues with the mapping. Last time I had AZERTY players complain about WASD, I need to find a good solution that fits both cases

I did want the bot to mess up plenty because I knew the controls were tricky for people who would play this for the first time, I tend to make my game too hard so wanted to try and adjust the difficulty accordingly.

Love the concept and the feel of the game. Put me right back the days of playing blobby volley with friends. I hope I can implement this for LAN-partys and fun during lectures...^^ The only nitpick I have is that the "wrong" played gets the serve after a point score, even tho I guess its better this way balancing wise.

Love it. Very satisfying when you slap the ball over to the opponent's side and finally get to watch the them struggle a bit. I can totally see how it would be a blast multiplayer (if only I had any friends).
Remappable controls would be really nice, but is admittedly a big ask for a jam game. If you have plans to work on this more, both that and controller support I think would really make things pop.
Overall, however, I find the difficult controls and the silly physics very charming. Really gives the game a good goofy vibe. It's not always the case with game jam submissions, but with this one I could totally see a full game where you just flop and flip fish around in a pointless attempt at a legitimate volleyball game, haha.
that's great feedback! I used ESDF instead of WASD because of our european friends using AZERTY keyboards but agree that remapping would make it much better :)

wow this game was really fun! I really enjoyed using the fast fish and just jump offscreen into the air lol. I also like how even though you cant really move in the air, you can still rotate and almost slap the ball down just like in real volleyball. Good job!

The art concept and sound were great but the fish are really difficult to control. but I could not stop playing , I wanted to win one game so badly I just had to play another game and another and another. I did not win a single game and I played for about an hour lol. I must have tried every combo. I came close to wining a game using the angel fish against the cpu clown fish, I got to my score to 5 and clown 1 and then the cpu made a really upsetting come back. and won. and that was it for me. I will try again tomorrow with a friend lol and let you know how it goes. Why esfd? and fish can't play volleyball but they are better than me. lol oh and another great thing you packed a lot of features into this game!

I have to say this game is much more fun with 2 players as the fish get so hard to control out of the water :) ESDF because in my last game some of my european friends complained about using WASD in an AZERTY keyboard. I guess I should make that a choice to the player though :)

I taught so about your choice of keys! but I just had to make sure . The choice of the name of my game also has some European influence too. "The other side of the pond" you know that saying ? to refer to the United Kingdom and the United States, I try to put little Easter eggs in my games that represents my past experiences , like the yuca fish in the game references, the fact that they look like the yucca root one of my favorite foods lol. AND oh no I am gong to beat the CPU tonight , even if daylight comes lol.

This game had me laughing so hard I actually started crying 💀💀 I played it against my boyfriend and I SUCKED SO BAD. I swear every time I went to serve, my fish decided it was time to perform an acrobatics routine instead of going anywhere near the ball 😭😭😭 Super duper fun and will for sure play again! :D

Played a few rounds with my gf and had a blast - the fish movement actually drives you crazy and I mean that in the best way possible
