Notes (optional)
Inspired by the classic board game Can't Stop, but with SO MANY FISH!

HOW TO PLAY:

Spend your actions to catch fish. You can spend your actions in three ways:
1) Set a rod (click on an empty spot on the pier to do this)
2) Advance time (click on the stopwatch icon to do this). When you advance time each set rod has a chance to hook a fish. Or, if a fish is already hooked, it has a chance to upgrade to a better fish. But look out, it also has a chance to snap! Push your luck for high scoring fish, but know when to quit!
3) Catch a fish (click on a rod with a hooked fish to reel it in). Catching a fish will increase your multiplier for the round. Advancing time (by pressing the stopwatch) will reset your multiplier to zero, so try to hook a lot of fish at once to get a good score.

Use gold to upgrade your rods and buy helpful cards and charms. You can get old either by finishing a day's fishing with remaining actions (click on the check button in the top left to do this). And also, if you hit the day's target points, you can get a bonus as well.

Score 250 points in five days of fishing to win!

BUGS:
Dewar Flask is broken, and if you catch one BIG fish, all the other fish on the screen at the time will become big and allow you to really juice your score. If anyone wants to play a rebalanced version of the game with a lot more to do and catch, please follow me as I'm working on the update!

Pre-existing assets (optional*)
Buttons (Andre Holtz) and the stopwatch (Pixel Boy) icon are from GDevelop Asset store. All free for commercial use.
Every other visual asset is original!
Sounds from sound effect lab

This was really fun! At first i was confused how to play but then i realized there was a tutorial - and it was a really well executed tutorial at that! After that i had a blast - its a very strategic game!

I'd love to see all the kinds of fish you could catch (like a fish-dex) or a card catologue showing all the cards youve used or what all of them do!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I enjoyed making this game so much, I'm going to continue developing it and I'm absolutely going to work on a nice fish-dex and card album. Cheers for the feedback!

Hey we made a fishing card game too! This was really fun - the gamble of breaking your rods and the way Cards support riskier decision making over time made for a satisfying game loop. Getting a high combo going feels so great! The tutorial felt like it took a little long to get through, but it was great at teaching the player how the game works. The UI is simple and clean, and the fish look awesome. It feels like you can keep fishing forever - fantastic job on this!

If you like fishing and card games, give us a check! :)

A fellow fishy card game team! Absolutely can't wait to try your game out ๐Ÿ˜! Board and card games are probably my favorite genre. I absolutely agree about the tutorial being lengthy after having ran through it a couple more times. Thinking of a good way to streamline it without sacrificing any viral information and I've got some ideas.

Thanks again for the great feedback and I'll see you on your game's page in the comments once I get a chance to play ๐Ÿ˜Š.

THIS GAME IS SO GOOOOD I WANNA KEEP FISHING FOREVER

Developer

THANK YOU! I'm so glad it made you want to keep pushing your luck. I really wanted to make a game that excites you to keep pushing for just once more catch. Cheers!!

This is a fun and creative game, with enough variety on the upgrades to keep me experimenting until I figured out a strategy that I think would be hard for me to improve further!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and experimenting with all the variables! If you're using the pearl heavily, I think you found the dominant strategy ๐Ÿ˜‰. I'm currently tweaking and balancing to add some more depth and alternative viable playstyles.

Haha, pearls/jokers were a big part for the last day.  I used the robot to help save actions to build up money in the first couple of days.

I'm not sure whether I got lucky at the end, or whether clicking on all of my fishing rods in quick succession caused all of the fish to receive the big fish bonus, but I was able to get a score of 1376, which was quite a bit higher than I was getting when I was clicking on them one by one!

Developer

You're a very astute player haha. I noticed that bug RIGHT after I submitted the project and couldn't change it by then. But let's say it's a feature not a bug ๐Ÿคซ.  Will clean it up with the next release, but your high score is higher than any I got in testing!

I like the art and idea, after the jam I will definitely have to come back and mess around with it a little more.

Developer

Please do! I'm working on updates right now to improve the experience ๐Ÿ˜Š

I absolutely love this game, the strategy with the cards and charms, the unpredictability of the rods breaking and risk vs reward. Such a cool game!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Means a lot to me that you took the time to learn the game and sink your teeth in. Hopefully I can add some more charms, cards and refinements on the future ๐Ÿ˜

Most of us play a game for five minutes, your tutorial took longer than that. This looks like a good game but maybe not a jam type game.

Developer

I didn't think of that, but that's true. Game jams are more suited to pick up and play games, aren't they? I love my game, but that's good advice for the next one.

Cool concept, but there's a lot of stuff going on at once.

Developer

Thank you so much! There are a couple little bugs I've just recently noticed left in, but I want to tidy it up and publish it properly :D .
