  • I really enjoy the concept of using the crops directly to get power-ups. Many farm games of this style immediately go into combat to do it, but this is more chill. Nice atmosphere and music. The UI seems too simplistic, and some items and actions would benefit from descriptions and tooltips. It was awkward to assign items to the right and left-click slots, and the collision detection for watering plants felt a bit off. A static camera can be good, but it felt rather constraining, adding even a little panning or zoom in/out would go a long way, especially in the dark forest.

Really fun little experience!

Love the art style and the animations look really good.
I had a few issues with my mouse being behind the pause menu for some reason?

Beyond that tho the only criticism I'd have would be work on camera transitioning a little.
It can be quite jarring having my Right movement changed to needing to press the Down key instead as I transition to enter town. It's really good that movement follows the camera's direction although with how the camera currently handles it can be a bit jarring and annoying to control when transitioning areas.

Outside of camera gripes and minor menu bugs I had a really fun time with this tho and it was quite a strong base for something that could be very cool!

I definitely felt like i was playing crystal chronicles or some other final fantasy with the art style! I kept thinking id run into random encounters in the forest :)

I like the core game loop, of plants giving power ups to progress further into that game. That being said, i tried about 6 times to make the double jump to progress further but could never quite make it :( If you have any tips on how to get past it'd be appreciated. The camera as others mentioned was a bit odd at times, especially in some places in the forest. Other than that, this really felt like a first level in a fully fledged game!

Thanks for playing! FFCC might well be an "inspiration" haha!

SPOILER:
The double jump in the first camp area requires some other power up (as the sculptures are supposed to tell you). Did you try it on the wall behind the house with the carrots? Maybe this one needs a sculpture as well

Oh man I cant believe I didn't make the connection with that wall lmao. I saw it and thought oh that's just another way to get where i was before. I also realized I can sometimes cheese it and get caught on some wall collision and jump up from there ;)

My mind was blown after that and then I had so much fun exploring the town and using the power-ups. Played it twice more and just beat the game! I think this is definitely my favorite game of the jam. When I was planting seeds I was eager to get back out to explore, was excited whenever i figured out some puzzle, or found one of the new seeds. Fantastic pacing and music, and a perfect length for a game jam (I know farming games generally tend to consume a lot of time). Really hope there's more of this after the jam! Great work guys.

Thank you so much for giving it another go! This is a really heartwarming feedback! Someone else found about the small glitch in the wall. I'm sad I didn't find it when testing it out ^^'

Thought this was super cute! I love the old school inspirations in it. I find the plants as powerups a cute gimmick and do genuinly enjoy the puzzle element. The only big note is that the camera reminded me of horror games and were a bit wonky.

I love the 3d models and the animations. The music fits well to atmosphere of the game. The dialogues was funny. I love this about adventure and knee :D I don't know how to get more seeds, I only had two and after harvested I had one per plant so I had two. I think the most annoying thing is how camera work. When I for example move forward by pressing 'W' from house to town, and then camera rotates, so I need to press 'S' button to move forward. It game is very solid base for more expansion :) Great job Godot's brothers :)

Mmh, maybe we needed to explain this a bit more. You have to look around a lot when out of town, more seeds and water cristals can be found over there. We wanted to make a game with little indication and let the player explore the environment. It might lack some guidelines on what you can find outside in addition to the water cristals.

Anyway, thanks for playing and commenting!

The style and direction of this game is really amazing, I love all the little details and the fact that it makes you want to explore more. I can tell this took a ton of work and I think it really paid off!

Looks really nice! The main character's animations are excellent, and the game runs smoothly. The world looks integrated and consistent, not always easy in 3D. I had great fun exploring this attractive little world.

The decision to make water a sparse commodity is an unusual choice, but it adds some unique flavor.

The camera angles are generally quite good, but there are sometimes radical shifts in perspective that make me slightly uncomfortable (not quite seasick, just a little uneasy).

Unfortunately, I couldn't get any sound to play, even at top volume. :( Also, the first time I picked up the hoe, the game crashed on me. That didn't happen the second time, though.

Hey, thanks for playing! I fucked up the last export badly and of course I didn't test it...

It's now all fixed and there will be sound and the correct exploration spawn. If you are willing to try it out, I think you'd appreciate it even more ^^'

We are aware of the "hoe crash" as we mentionned on the itch page and didn't manage to properly profile it. It seems to be due to godot taking slightly too much time to load shaders and Wwise not liking it. We tried several fixes and thought we were good since the bug wasn't reproduced on our computers. I guess we're not. At least it happens only the first time, I think because then the materials are cached ^^'

The camera angle shifts were really hard to manage, I think I lack a bit of experience on this point. It was my first time making a 3rd person game. Also with the scope we had (which was wayyyy too big), I decided to give up on certain places where multiple angles were a bit clashing as a trade off to get to work on other features.

WOW!! This is an awesome little game for the time limit!!
This gives me Zelda and Final Fantasy vibes. I loved exploring the foggy town, and it felt really satisfyng when I discovered new seeds while exploring. Hell, the game in general felt satisfying. I found myself *wanting* to keep playing, and after writing this, I'm going back to it for a bit xD
Great entry and great job!! I really think you guys should continue to put care into this once the jam is over <3

Thanks a lot for the comment!

Actually I fucked up my last export and thankfully Figerox allowed us to make one last correction. I put back the sound (ugh) and repaired the exploration spawn which was not supposed to be in the ghost town ^^'

I can only encourage you to try out the "real intended experience" lmao.

It is very impressive, so many different mechanics and such attention to the details. I like how farming is integrated with exploration. Camera implementation is also very cool.

Thanks!
