This is a really clever way to show the game jam theme. The game concept was fun and pretty unique. I think the UI could have been a bit easier to read. I didn't personally struggle too much, but blue and white text on a mostly blue and white background is a bit rough and sometimes stream messages disappear into the background a bit. I thought the content that Doki reacts to was funny and I enjoyed the stream chat and names. It was fun!
(Side note: Nice work getting an Unreal project to run properly in the browser. I always see a lot of people struggle whenever I look up troubleshooting advice for it, and I've had times where I can't get it to work well.)
UI is definitely one of my weak points haha. And yeah, UE4.23 is last version to (easily) support HTML. I had issues like disappearing models, Post-processing not working, and even fonts not showing text correctly. Even then it's annoying haha
Nice implementation. I like the moving Doki on the side. Some times the timing felt a bit hard, but otherwise worked nicely.
Cool idea for the theme. I am unfortunately not good enough at remembering where the WASD keys are and keep failing when it speeds up lol. Skill issue on my part.
This was a great take on the theme, and I was doing pretty well till DAD~! GRRRR. But seriously, great game to pull off solo in 2 week congratz!
YouTube algorithm pushed the stream do you did towards me xD DAD strikes again. He's supposed to disappear for the last two inputs but maybe It doesn't if you failed just before that hmmm... Thanks for playing my game!
A slightly new version was made, to change two images.
i think im just bad at rhythm or something. double speed insta kills me apart from the few satisfying times when i can press buttons correctly. wasd and arrow keys make me mess up very easily, maybe 1.5 would be cool but eh. this game constantlty keeps me on my toes to make sure i dont just lose all my viewers. Cool and literal theme choice but i sort of wished there were better visuals or smething idk.. i think its due to my screen being 16:10
I'm also not great at rhythm games but wanted to challenge myself making one, so I can agree it feels wonky. I'm not sure on the 16:10 but it could be the UI scaling weirdly with the anchoring UE4 does. I initially wanted to try scaling the entire game getting incrementally up to 2x speed but I didn't get around to that as I'd have to scale the music to the speed as well. I could set the global speedup time of the game but it didn't affect the music haha. Thanks for playing!
I enjoyed playing! Your idea and execution is funny, and I really like all of the art and assets you made! Doki's poses juxtaposed with the things she was reacting to were golden. And seeing chat's messages was pretty funny. I thought the timing of pressing the keys to get perfect reacts was pretty tricky and unclear though because I had to press the keys before the clips would come on the screen. Nonetheless, I had a fun experience!
I wanted to have perfect reacts, but i regret the timer i went with as I could have made it much more precise than what was implemented, thus there is not "perfect" execution. Only a correct/incorrect haha. And I argued between it being a pre-input/in the moment where based on the input you did it did a right/wrong reaction. Ultimately went with pre-input as it was easer to keep the game cycle in sync best without having to redo a whole lot haha. But thanks for playing!
It's a very neat idea and executed well. I'm a sucker for rhythm type games. One suggestion would be to consider rearranging the layout so that the prompts move over more of the screen so the player will have a reason to look at the funny emotes and video images. Sometimes I find myself just focusing on the bottom corner which I feel is a shame considering all the great animation work you put in. Overall great job!
A part of what I was going for was distracting the player with the content as well. Given how silly all the images (mostly) are. But I guess I could have moved it up and still had that effect haha. Thanks for playing.
Very fun & engaging, especially when it speeds up! Kinda unclear when you’re allowed to input, and feedback is a bit slow, but overall doesn’t really affect the gameplay
The timing is a bit weird I agree, I have the "correct/incorrect" tones on the very last moment if its a yes or no, not with the input itself. This was to keep more in with the beat of the music just incase the tones went out of beat. (that's my explanation for it, but yeah agree it could be better). It has the visual queue of them being darker when they're not active and light up when they are active but guess I could have done more there. Thanks for playing.
Clever take! I'm a big fan :) Would be so good with some variety in music.
Thanks for playing, I tried to create a few different pieces but I'm not good at music. Should have just worked with a friend for that, hindsight.
Really fun take on the theme, I do wish that since functionally a rhythm game the music synced up to it a bit better. Really cool concept either way though.
Yeah, I tried to create multiple different tracks to fit the beat but never landed on something that didn't sound stale. I'm not good with music so making a musical rhythm game was a struggle haha.
Thats more then fair, Im so tone def I could never do it
"chain REACTing" is an incredible take on the theme lmfao, love it
Thanks haha, It was my first thought and rolled with it.
