I enjoyed this one! The controls were straightforward and I particularly liked how you could glimpse other areas of the map through gaps in the walls. A few comments:

  • I didn't care for the mechanic that allowed you to attack as fast as you could tap the keyboard. I would have expected some sort of delay between attacks.
  • There were a couple of instances where something instantly killed me but there was no indication what it was. I think these were traps, but I didn't notice any clear feedback to indicate what happened.
  • To me this felt more like a "pulp action" game than a "cosmic horror" game. Still fun though!

"Arizona drops to her knees in awe, as the portal closes behind her."

This short game was actually pretty fun to play. I like the wall textures and the visuals are consistent. Instant movemet is great, I don't mind button mashing as I tend to prefer that to cooldowns. Finding the second weapon was satisfying as defeating the enemies with a spear with the first one took quite longer, not sure about the whip as you don't get much time to try it. I like the instant death traps with the skeleton hints and the solution to them, they do enhance the feel of a cool dungeon which wants to kill you and enhance the game.

At one point I ended up moving in diagonal too, although it's just a slight visual problem and doesn't prevent playing the game properly anyway so it's no big deal.

Cool entry, thanks for sharing.

This was kinda interesting, the atmosphere was good, sound and music was great, and the controls mostly felt nice. My one exception to it is that how the camera snaps to face enemies, because I found it pointed me at a diagonal which was really disorienting and actually left me moving in only diagonals.

I was actually able to clip out of the map like this, so I would look into that post-jam.

The combat was at least engaging, the button mashing probably isn't for everyone but I liked how it encouraged the player to act as quickly as possible to avoid damage.

I thought the traps were a bit cheap, since I died a couple times at the first torch and then again at the chest.

The text dumps were interesting to read, though admittedly it did make me wish I saw what happened.

The UI is great though! Really helps the treasure hunt adventure feel.

Overall, pretty solid entry. Good work!

I got quickly killed by what I presume is a trap.

You totally shipped a game, tho!

You got to light it up...

Completed the game, but I also added some to the bones on the ground.

It feels like an action Indiana Jones (Arizona Stone) game. I like the controls and pace of the game. Some long corridors to walk through but manageable. Never used any med kit though.

Good work!

The torch thing made me crazy, at least 5 death, before I tried to light the torch. Well maybe thats on me. The rest was smooth sailing. Nice music, enough sound effects and snappy movement, maybe even a little bit to fast. The graphics give off a nice mood and it is alwasy a great idea to show the player, what he will later find, like the treasure chest through the hole in the wall.

This was short and fun. Didn't understand why I needed to light the torch at first so I didn't instadie, but hey, I figured it out. Found the keys, found the Snake Totem. Good movement, solid whacking, good atmosphere, kickass music.

The models could've maybe used some animation and I'd rather have bigger damage with a small attack cooldown (like GCD from other games) than button mashing. The Serpent Guardian fella had me pressing frantically to beat him before he could take me down, haha.

The atmosphere and art totally sold the core concept, and combat was fun. I'm not entirely sure on the differences between weapons (i.e. why switch back), but they felt good anyway. A short experience, but a fun one.

I recorded my playthrough, for your enjoyment:

Solid feedback thanks! We didn’t really get to do much balancing but had planned to make some weapons slow but powerful, others fast but weak. Appreciate the recording!
