Fun little fps minigame. ;) I just had problems killing the gray flying cubes... The music was really fitting.
Maybe you could try out and vote my game too... ;D

Hey just played your game! The controls are well explained so i know how to move. But im not sure what the jump is there for as i can only do small leaps and not high enough to reach up those blocks. And it would be good if there is an automatic gun instead. And i keep exiting the game after i died until i realised it was because i clicked the exit button too fast so it might be better if the exit button is somewhere not in the middle or smaller.
Hey! The jump is for the enemies that shoot (level 2) at you! Also, you can reach the lower blocks, which the enemies do not spawn over (they only spawn over the higher blocks, the ones you can't reach).
The gun is a good suggestion, maybe for an update? And, uh... yeah, everybody is quitting my game after dying :( I'll promise that won't happen in my next game!
As a few other commenters said I wasn't really sure on the theme. However I didn't mind the simple graphics! You do what you can in the time you had and you managed to submit a game!
For the future a bit more time spent on the UX and some polish would go a long way but over all I enjoyed it
Quite fun to play, though as the guy below me stated earlier it is a tad annoying to deal with enemies you don't notice. The game is very simple and easy to get the hang of. The music is nice, too. Graphics get the job done but they could be enhanced a little bit.
The game's pretty good as a standalone thing, though i dunno if it really fits this theme. I found the 'game' talking to me really easy to ignore lie-wise.
True, I didn't expanded much from the "shoot to kill the enemies!" lie. It took most of my time to get the gameplay working decently and to create the enemies.
The enemies do produce a sound when they spawn, and that should make the player be aware that enemies could appear from behind (as LilNarwhal suggested, the enemies could make a sound while moving, which would make it easier to be aware of your surroundings).
Thanks for the rating and comment!
In terms of playability it's accessible and easy to grasp. The different cube levels are learnt almost instantly and it doesn't take long before you realise grey cubes run into each other and then die. I do have some problems with the game in terms of playability though: as pointed by another comment: running into a cube that just spawned behind you is very annoying. It would be nice if the cubes made some sound as they moved and if there were either dedicated spawners or waves of enemies (with a certain time limit that, if not fulfilled, just continues to the next wave and keeps the current enemies).
Art wise, you can use primitives, but play around with them to make them look nicer. A change in shader changes a lot, and a bit of playing around with lighting and implementing post processing could have done you so much help.
The music was weird but a nice background follower which isnt annoying so that's good.
It doesn't fit the theme however. The game says two things and that's about it. Not very interesting and it's just one lie. Definitely shouldnt inspire the title to your game.
All around it's a good base design, and honestly a good implementation in terms of raw playability (except for the problems I adressed), but it really could use an artistic redecoration.
Very glad you enjoyed! The cubes do make a sound when they spawn, but not when they move, nice suggestion. Waves of enemies would be great, also!
I assume that the graphics were lame, but I don't know much about shaders neither modelling. I'll promise that for the next jam I'll improve the graphics, haha.
About the theme: my focus were to keep it simple, and around the "shoot to kill the enemies!", but this didn't gave me much creativity and I didn't expanded much from that.
Thanks for playing, and for the feedback!
Interesting mechanic! Obviously some more grabbing visuals would have been a good addition but one can only do so much in a week! One suggestion i have is to change the UI a bit, because everytime i die i would accidentally press the quit button and close the game! Kind of annoying.
Great job overall!
Graphics. The game uses default primitives in Unity, the default skybox, and the default shader, just with different colours. Not brilliant.
Audio. I found the music bothersome in the menu, but, while playing I didn't notice it that much, which is interesting. Still, composition-wise it wasn't great. Very few notes, no harmonies, very basic. SFX is serviceable, but you're using very few samples, so the SFX get repetitive quickly.
The main mechanic of the game of getting grey enemies to kill each other was interesting. I liked that. However, the game quickly turned int a perma-strafe fest, only altered by the fact that spawning is random, so sometimes enemies will spawn behind you, leading to unexpected loss of health, while you're dealing with 5 grey cubes that refuse to hit each other.
I don't see how the theme was hit. The fact that a text box says something blatantly contrary to what's happening isn't really a lie. It's absurdity. Further, I learnt to ignore the messages immediately.
There was an interesting piece of poor design / execution I noticed when I died. Because you are required to shoot continuously and you don't have an automatic weapon, chances are you will keep clicking when the main menu appears. Twice in a row I clicked on "Exit" when I died. You should have a dedicated game over state.
It's always nice to read some constructive feedback.
So, I'm a programmer, and I do not mess much with Unity. So the graphics and the audio wasn't really my focus, in fact, I'm just glad I could do it haha. I am getting better with it in due time. I also have a full-time job, so my available time to develop wasn't that great.
Enought with excuses, my main objective for the game was to be fun to play. I couldn't implement the lie mechanic exactly how I wanted, and I know it was really subtle. I'm glad you liked the game mechanics, thought. I appreciate your feedback, and see you in another jams!
