This is a really fun game and very cool visuals! At first the doorway confused me a bit and i thought i had to get there to proceed the game but other than that it was easy enough to figure out. I think some of the text ends up a bit too distorted making it really hard to read, like 1 or 7 or L

I absolutely LOVE the art style! The enemy sound effect is very satisfying as well!

The gameplay is pretty fun, and I dig the visuals. The UI was a bit confusing at first, and also the controls: I didn't know if I had to drag the mouse, but I eventually figured it out.

The shop is a nice addition (but as other have  said, it's very op) . The music was a good choice, but the SFX could get a little repetitive after some time.

It's a fun game to play, figuring out the best path to recover your attacks and collect the most coins was an interesting loop. Good job with this one!

Fun game! I enjoyed planning a strategy for each route at the beginning, though it became a bit frustrating when nearly all the tiles became enemy tiles and the only moves I could make cost me. The shop is a fun idea, but a bit overpowered as well; the enemy power quickly made enemies useless, and their attack can even become negative, turning their tiles into good tiles as well. It isn't super hard to turn every tile on the board into something useful, but besides balance the game is really fun!

thank you for playing! Right now I'm working on making the shop less op and better tile spawning.

I didn’t understand the game’s goal, how can you regain action points, etc.

But still a good game, graphics are good!

Developer(+1)

yeah hindsight should have worked on a tutorial for the player.  Hopefully you figured it out! Thanks for playing!

Tried playing it again, got it kinda. Maybe make some kind of tutorial in description or a whole video on youtube linked to the game (there is that feature in itch.io)?

Developer(+1)

yeah im working on a tutorial rn, my plan is to release a more polished update once judging is over fixing the difficulty curve and the tutorial.

Gonna keep this short and concise

The gameplay is nice and I like the graphics

I get confused at the start but as the time goes on its cool.

Nice entry

Visuals and sound design are great, maybe it's a bug but the background music just randomly stopped after a while. Also, the font might need a bit of tweaking, it was kind of difficult to read at times. The balance is a bit off I think it becomes too easy after a few turns, especially after you get to the shop for the first time and have enough coins you can just clear boards constantly. That's a relatively small issue though, overall such a good idea and execution.

The presentation is great, really evokes 80s PC games. I pretty quickly got to a point where all of the enemies are reduced to zero attack, and then I just cleared boards one after another, until tiring of it at turn 102. Fixing that of course would just be a matter of more delicate tuning. You could make something pretty nice from here!

Developer

Wow, thank you for playing for so long! I'm planning on fixing the difficulty curve by making a chest tile that prompts you with an option to pay to open it, hopefully fixing the overpowered shop.

It took me a while to understand how to play, a tutorial would be welcome because I almost quit the game because it also lacks feedback, finally I understood and the game quickly became too easy, so I stopped, otherwise the idea is cool and it's brave to want to make a rogue like in a game jam, good job ;)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I tried to have a display with flashing icons to show what you could move to make it easier to understand, but it was 2 am and I had work the day of the deadline. I should have taken balancing more seriously, because if you get blessed by RNG early on, everything becomes way too easy to be fun.  Thank you for playing and the constructive feedback :) Once voting is over, I'll update the game with a better difficulty curve.

Quite fun overall. Design and difficulty is well thought out, mostly.

It's possible to get into unwinnable positions where the cards don't give more survivability, and you're stuck on a board of mostly reds. Perhaps this can be solved by replacing some of the existing tiles every turn?

Developer

Yeah, I'm planning to add some more logic to tile spawning. Right now it's just a random number generator, but I'm planning on writing a script that takes a look at the pieces of the board to help determine the next tile spawn :) Thanks for playing!
