Solid game entry, with a few flaws :D

First of all, the graphics are nice and really well done. The controls are very responsive.

But there are some points which could be improved:

  • The enemies keep shooting when they are already dead. It seems that the bullet shooter is not connected to the enemy.
  • The snow particles are very distracting and should be removed in number and maybe speed.
  • It should not be possible to spam the shoot button like it is currently. Because if you can make full auto mode than you could also just make it so that the button is held down :D Maybe some ammo system would be better where you have to reload.
  • It should also not be possible to pre-fire for the next wave which makes it way too easy. So maybe disable fire until the next wave is there.
  • It is sad that your game ends so abruptly. I know that the time is an issue in game jams, but some sort of victory/end screen would be nice.

Feel free to check out my game and mention everything you didn't like ;)

We appreciate your feedback and that you took your time to rate and give us feedback for our future games! As you mentioned, time was an issue and there were a lot of features we had to cut due to the time limit, and after hearing it from a couple of people, we agree that the snow particles should've been reduced, or at least have an option for the amount of particles emitted. Thank you!

Nice and simple shooter. Good art and controls. Snow particles on the background were bit distracting.

Developer

Thanks for playing. Glad you liked the art! We were experimenting a bit with how to do the particles but in the end we got too little time for refinement and had to go with what we had.

I liked the big bullets you shoot, and the particles were a great touch!  Also the enemies had good sprite art~  Maybe give them some animations later!  An endless scrolling background would be cool to add too (like some snowy hills).  Good job!  Please play Puma Cat if you have the free time.

We focused a lot on making the game feel satisfying to play, via the big bullets and the particles, and our artist did a great job on the art as well. Thanks for playing!

Although it didn't fully fit on my screen (very strange but I couldn't get it fixed), it was a lot of fun! Everything looked very good with the particle effects!

Nice work :)

Yeah, We had a bit of trouble trying to get the screen size correct but we've heard multiple people having trouble with this, sorry about that. But yeah thanks for playing.

This game looks great!

The particle effects, menu transitions, and sprites really sold the presentation of it. It was a treat to look at and made the experience even more enjoyable.

Dodging the enemies projectiles was difficult and gave the game a fun challenge. Their designs were really cute and an interesting addition to the theme

Hitting them was a little easy though. Since there was no cooldown on shooting, I was able to spam my bullets and cover up the whole screen.

Good game, with great visuals!
