How does you game fit the theme?
mirages will be visible from far away but as you get closer you realize they aren't real and the disappear.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
all code and assets were made by me from scratch.
A custom pre-made game engine also made by me was used.

I really love the aesthetic of this game! Reminds me of old Amiga demos and the desert colours are giving me a TempleOS vibe. That's probably because you're using your own game engine which is incredible! I hope you continue working on stuff like this, keep it up!

well done dude!

Really cool little game. Incredible that you used a custom made engine. Well done!

Also, could you rate my game? I'm looking at where I can improve in my games

Absolutely awesome, dude! First-rate theme choice, first-rate gameplay, and in your own game engine.

i can't even imagine how you made this all from scratch in your own engine, great work! i fell for the mirage many times

Custom engine games always impress me, even if its a simple game as walking around and picking up bottles of water. I wish the mirages started fading out when you got a bit closer just to give a more "haha gotcha" moment. Other than that, good and simple game! Can't wait to see what else you make with your engine!

The fact that this was all done on your own game engine is awesome. Game is simple but very effective. I also fell for a few mirages, but caught a lucky break when running into a few real ponds in a row. I'd love to see more!

Definitely fell for a few mirages here.

That's really cool that you're developing your own engine.  I'm sure it wouldnt be trivial but a custom skybox + some distant fog to blend the horizon would make this look so cool.  The mirage effect here was absolutely evil and fits the theme of the jam excelently.  Nice job!

btw would love to play in fullscreen!  I tried making the window bigger but then the game wouldn't recapture the mouse so I had to relaunch and play on the small window (very small on 4k monitor)

windowed fullscreen or borderless fullscreen.  Windowed fullscreen should work. (at least it works for me)

ah I see, I didn't realise ESC locked/unlocked the mouse in additino to pausing, nevermind!

Idea is super innovative. It is also super cool it was made using your own engine!
