How does you game fit the theme?
The character plays through dream sequences and changes her memories based on decisions made by the player. The concept behind the story is the unreality of memory and dreams.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
All code except for the player controller is from scratch. The main character, dragon cookie jar, torches, book illustrations, shaders and VFX are from scratch. The rest of the art assets are from the Unity Asset Store.

Hi! You created a very cool concept here.  The story you created is already well developed although you had just one week.

To be honest, I am not a fan of the camera continuous movement (I don't know if that happened just to me) and there were a few small issues with colliders on the first level. But playing the game was pretty fun :).

Congrats!

If you can, take a look at our game as well. I'd be glad to get your feedback.

Amazing game! The levels and the story are really cool!

Cool idea, I liked the gameplay for the first level, I tried to play the second one and it threw an error, except for that great game!

Can't spin my character indefinitely in the first level like its limited. Still had fun playing, especially with choices, good job!

I had a lot of fun playing it! I rated! The character is cute!

Never played something as unique as this choose your own... platformer? It was a fun experience, music was good, and I liked the style of the graphics, especially the book graphics.

Loved the assets and the overall structure of the map. I had a crash I couldn't manage to finish the game. I wished it had some sort of coyote timing for the jumps, because sometimes it felt frustrating when jumping on the edge of some platforms.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I hadn't heard of coyote timing until you suggested, looks helpful. :)

Really amazing concept, you nailed it! Great work!

I just rated your game, maybe you can do the same on mine ^_^

I love the idea of picking how the character remembers the story. Nice touch.

Interesting interpretation of the theme. The 3d art was super cool looking, and the art in the book was really well done as well. I was a little surprised that for how cool the 3d art was, the shards I was collecting were just 3d rotating cubes, would have liked to been collecting cool looking shards! The story at the beginning was well written and set the tone for the game well. Well done.

Thanks for the feedback. We ran out of time on the art assets so some of them are still block-outs, unfortunately. I would like to finish the environment layout, materials, and VFX after voting is over. I'm glad you liked the overall game!

Very cool spin on the "choose your own adventure" genre! The story was interesting too! Hope you make more stuff in the future!

Developer

I'm glad you liked the story! I want to work on more story-based games and little experiences whenever I can. :)

Very good and polished game! There was a bug that I encountered when you jump from the plank onto a platform, you fall into it. But overall, a pretty solid game!

Developer

Thanks for letting us know! Glad you liked our game overall. :)

I am loving the music and love the story of the game, it was quite enjoyable!

It might just be me, but it felt there might be a shader issue in the torche's scene? my character was changing color all the time haha

but overall, I rated this game well because I am amazed by the work you guys put into it! Good job!

Developer (1 edit)

Haha yea the color changing was because of how the lights from the torches interacted with my toon shader. I was too sleepy to fix it last night but I think it's because I made the original version of that shader for Unity's URP but this project was in SRP, which seems to handle additional lights differently. I'm glad you liked the game anyway!

aah right makes a lot of sense!

our game used no shaders but I wanted to switch to URP to make some fancy stuff but that was also last night... so I tried but stop half way haha

Charming game! I like the art.

When lighting torches- it would have been nice to have something to let me know how many torches I had left.

Overall super charming and cute c:

Very neat game. The story was v cool and u guys did a good job sticking to the theme. Unfortunately I did have a problem with it crashing several times. Good job!

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! Sorry it crashed on you, though. Do you mind telling me what OS and browser you're using? It's my first time making a webGL build so I wanna learn how to optimize it for the most players.

Me too, hmm must be something else. Well I'll look into other factors that could affect performance. Thanks again!
