In what way does your game fit the theme?
Bullets fire randomly, filling the screen. A lot of the game is out of the player's control, and the gameplay itself is visually chaotic

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes

Well done on your first ever Jam !!!

Good concept, I think you just need to polish the execution of it a bit.  Good job getting this done!

Submitted

Nice job as your first game jam! You have implemented a lot of mechanics which are really fun.

The concept fits the theme so well.

Stuck at a level because of the camera. Would love to see a fixed version! Great job!

Submitted

I think the concept is neat, though it plays more like an actual bullet hell than a reverse bullet hell. One problem is that when the camera moves to show the next area, I cannot move and have to take whatever damage from the lingering bullets. It'd be better if I'm invincible during that time or if the bullets are removed when all enemies are defeated.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, a few people have mentioned your concern about the cameras, I agree it was an oversight on my part when I designed it.  I will most definitely fix that in later versions.

I really like the idea of this game! I'd thought I'd see a lot of typical bullet hell style games in this jam, but this one puts a nice twist on it!

It's a really good end product for your first ever jam!

Developer

Thanks! One of my main goals during development was to make something truly unique, since I also figured bullet-hell games would be quite abundant given the theme.

Submitted

Very creative approach, it would be awesome to be able to choose the bullets patterns to feel more like a boss in a standard bullet hell game.

I lost due to the camera moving away to show door opening - thats a little flaw in the design, probably easy to fix thourh!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely take into account your idea about the bullet patterns, and I am aware about the issue of getting hit when the camera moves, I just didn't have time to fix it in time for the jam.

Well done on completing your first jam.  I really like the exploration aspect and unlocking new areas, reminds me a bit of Adventure on the Atari 2600.

Developer

Thank you so much! It's an honor to have my game compared to an Atari game, those games are real classics.

Nice game! Theme and innovation was an absolute 5* from me.
Good job!

I love the relevance to the theme chaos!

And loved that checkpoint mechanic, its really a unique idea and i think its pretty polished too for a jam game!

5/5!

Thanks for playing and rating! Also, I quite enjoyed your game

The random bullet mechanic is so crazy! There is totally a lot of chaos going on! Keep up the work!

Submitted

It is made really well and it is fun to play the one who makes the bullet hell.
Also like Paulen said the health that gets saved by the checkpoint is a really interesting game mechanic.

Submitted

I like that you introduced a hidden checkpointsystem, where you can continue but only with the health that you had at that point. Thats a Mechanic i don't see so often these days.

Keep it up👍

Some Crediting Addendums: I was barely awake when I posted the game, and I just barely posted it in time, so I'm going to clarify some things: My younger brother made the player sprite, as well as a few other random sprites, my older brother made the gun sprites and bullet sprites, and a friend helped me write some of the bullet firing code, although I did end up changing that code quite significantly by the end.  Other than that, I did everything else including  99% of the code,  some of the art, all of the music, etc. Just wanted to make sure credit was given where credit was due.

Submitted

This is quite confusing and I'm still not sure if I understand what's going on... Despite that I really like the idea and love the artstyle! Especially the player character.

If you would have had more time, you really could have made something outstanding!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! This was only my second or third game I've ever made, so I had to learn how to make most of the mechanics on the fly this week, which took longer than I expected.  At the very least it's definitely chaotic, haha.

Submitted

Don't worry about the game not being that good! For the third game ever it is actually quite good! If you click on my page you'll see some of the first games I've ever made and compared to them, your game holds up very well!

Submitted

I love how the player looks! Camera should move with the player maybe? Sometimes it was hard to understand where exactly I had to go because the next room wasn't visible. Other than that I had fun playing it, good job!

Developer

The camera was originally much more zoomed out, but I had issues when building and uploading the game that caused the camera to be  more zoomed in than expected.  I learned a lot about how cameras work in Unity from this though, so I think in future jams this won't be much of a problem.  I might even reupload the game after the jam with some better cameras.

A very unique idea, and I like the upgrade system.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I think the upgrade system might be the only bug-free part of my game lol
