In what way does your game fit the theme?
You have to shoot a bunch of balls to break bricks and score as high as possible. However, as balls start to fill the screen, it becomes utter chaos, and you find it harder and harder to progress to the next level and increase your score.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes (except fonts)

Very cool! I love how all of the projectiles stay around and can actually interfere with you! My first idea was to shoot a ton but then I quickly realized how that is actually a reaaalllly bad strategy haha.

I wonder how it would play if the projectiles stayed active if they hit a brick and only deactivate if they hit the floor or another projectile. That way, you can still keep the chaos but also get those chains of bricks that are so satisfying in the original game.

Anyways, really great job!

Thanks! You idea is actually quite interesting, I will consider it if I ever make a post-jam version.

Very interesting game! I managed to get 203, 213 and finally 280  points at the end. I think there could be different goals, they even may be chosen randomly when you start the game.

The first goal would be to get minimum point (means, to perform minimal number of shoots). The second goal - is to complete a game for a minimal time. The main and third goal could be in opposite - to reach maximum points. Makes sense because more balls make harder to complete a level.

Also as an idea - there could be different background music when you reach new levels.

Overall it's an interesting game with a potential. Great job!

Thank you for your kind comments! Actually, when I made this game my intention was for people to play this game for very long, like maybe an hour, to try and maximise their high score. Unfortunately that didn't really happen, although it is understandable since people have other games to play and rate. But still, that was why I mentioned having an online leaderboard in my Creational Chaos comment, so people are motivated to do just that when they see what scores other people can achieve (although I wouldn't have time to implement it anyway, not to mention I have no idea how to do that.).

As for the goals you mentioned they are interesting. For your minimum points goal though, it doesn't seem very interesting to me, mainly because the strategy is already quite obvious - hit one brick, hit the ceiling, and repeat. So there is already a minimum score you can achieve, and the game becomes solely about accuracy and achieving that goal, compared to maximising your score where there is a lot more variation on what strategy you can pick. I will consider your other time trial goal though.

As for the music, like I said I didn't have time, and I have never ever made music for a game before, so I was actually hoping to get away with just a few sound effects :P.

I do love a good arcade game with a twist. I enjoyed playing this.

Thanks!

I am (checkout my own game) a fan of taking a chaotic twist on a classic game. Great. I don't see how you can win this, but I think that's just a tweak or two away.

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Thanks! My intention for the game was not really to give the player a goal to "win" the game, but rather to chase the high score for a particular level/overall, and see if they can maximise it. If you want, I guess you can count beating Level 8 as "winning" the game. It's possible, trust me.

Very creative spinoff of the classic game ! The chaos comes real fast and very challenging.

Thanks!

A nice we twist to the classic but really hard with so many balls in play.

Developer

Thanks! I guess it is meant to be hard if you put too many balls in play.

Great entry! Breakout... but don't spam xD

I like the idea that the level doesn't reset after each level and that you have to do everything in one go to either get high-scores on ILs or overall. Though after a bit, with so many balls, it can actually become impossible to progress (deactivated balls right on your paddle, which deactivate almost immediately the one you just launched.) I'm guessing that's why there is a reset button and one to end the game, which is useful xD

My one main thing is that the hover sound on the main menu has an eardrum breaking click, which is a bit annoying.

Apart from that, very creative submission! Nice job!

Developer

Thanks for playing my game on stream and taking the time to write such a long comment. As for the eardrum-breaking hover sound, that only seems to happen in the WebGL version, I tried the Windows version and it didn't have this problem (maybe it's just Unity WebGL things), and I also didn't have time to fix it since I submitted the game so close to the deadline. I guess the point of the game is to find the balance between increasing the number of balls and still being able to hit the ceiling and progress, though you can strategise by finding out which bricks to break and which ones not to, or perhaps shoot the balls in a way that minimises the chaos. Or you can just get good by training your timing, judgement, and whatnot. Anyway thanks again for your feedback.

Fits the theme perfectly! Had a total blast playing it!

Had fun playing it. I love how balanced chaos it was. I made a mess in my first few attempts trying to shoot as many balls as I could then quickly realized the mechanic and was trying to place as accurate shot as possible. But still managed to make a huge mess. Could never break the last red line. Will come to attempt that later. Good entry best of luck.
