How does the game fit the theme?
You get trapped in a strange place and have to travel through a stranger place to escape. It's all very strange.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Everything is made for the Jam. I made all the art in aseprite. I made the music in GarageBand. There is no game engine, just love and javascript.

How many people worked on the game?

The fact you used no game engine is very impressive, props to you.

I did get stuck and was unable to complete, but over all I enjoyed playing and had a good time with the visuals and audio!

Awesome job!

Very fun game! I saw several dishonered/titanfall like "parallel levels" games in the jam, and I like the idea of having one level with different physics to progress - it kept things fresh. It was also the right length, challenging but not too hard. I also like how satisfying it is to use the submarine after the stress of managing the air.

The controls could have been improved maybe - give an option to jump with space, and make them more precise? I was constatly damaged and I wasn't sure why

The art and audio are simple, but it's impressive that you made a complete game by yourself, and a fun one at that!

This game is really awesome! It fits the theme really well, and it was a lot of fun. Great job!

Very nice work, especially considering that no game engine was used. The mechanic of switching between environments is simple and engaging.

Though I've noticed a thing when you switch from this sea-like environment into (I presume) lighthouse one, character spawned on a couple of units higher than in previous environment and takes fall-damage.

Great gameplay idea. Loved the mechanic of switching between the levels!

Impressive effort and very interesting mechanic!

I wasn't always sure why I died, maybe a sound when bubbles are low might help.
And check points would be nice.

Really good puzzles and the music was good. When the last time we are teleported back to the start as a submarine i was unintentionally was able to float at top of the water in water mode and could go out of the map.
Maybe some sort of world boundaries would help here?
Very good game though!

Really creative mechanic switching between the two scenes, puzzles were clever and felt rewarding. I think some checkpoints would have helped a lot. Still a really creative game, also liked the fish in your game, fish game club for the win!

Cool game. It was fun and challenging. Great job.

Wow if it's really just javascript without game engine, im impressed O_O

For 2D stuff, it's not as hard as it sounds, honestly. Mostly just drawimage to a canvas. I have a super minimal example of images/sound/keyboard/mouse if that's interesting : https://github.com/TravisWaltonGames/HTML5GameTest

Fun game! I did a game similar to this once where you stepped on buttons and I we swapped between two tilesets. The only improvements I would potentially add would be a checkpoint system. It was a bit tedious to start over every time, having checkpoints would have helped that out. The other thing would have been to add some sound effects. But the music was good, the execution was good and the art was good. Well done!

Freedom! I really liked the music!

Love the idea and execution of swapping between the two worlds of underwater and and platforming around spikes. The game is very basic, but considering there's no game engine, really impressive what you made in a week!

Pretty interesting concept. Nice coherent art. The gameplay is a bit simple, but that’s to be expected for a one week game jam :)

Did the torch have some mechanic to it? Or was it just a nice visual addition when under water? That I did not fully get.

Nonetheless a good entry to the jam, and kudos for making this from scratch with only love and JavaScript :D

The torch is just pretty. I was going to make it scare away the angler fish but I ran out of time :)

Good, compact experience.  I liked the double resource management of air and health against spikes and falling.  The narrative, for what it was, was humorous and enjoyable.  The music was a bop.

Well done!

Love this concept! Great job on this one!

It's a very great idea to merge different environments in the same level! Very good concept, great game!

Think the coolest part of this for me was when you go down a decent distance and aren't sure what's waiting for you on the other side when you use the amulet. I think leaning into that idea could make for a really cool game if you do decide to keep building it out!

I found a glitch that when you clip through the walls as the sub you teleport to the top of the map and then you can just walk out instead of getting through the door xD

Was good fun though, good work!

Nice!
