How does your game fit the theme?
The player camps and catches fish in a calm environment... until a storm comes!

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Most 3D assets like the cabin, the fishing rod, etc, were made by me, but assets like trees and bushes were obtained from free ProtonScatter add on that is completely free and open source. I also used Terrain3D for the terrain sculpting, a completely free add-on that comes in the Godot asset library. Assets like audio were also royalty-free sound effects. Some textures were made by me while others were obtained from websites like Polyhaven and AmbientCG, which are again completely free to use. All code was written by me too, though some tutorials were obviously watched. Some assets like the generator and the frying pan, etc, were obtained from blenderkit, all of which are completely free to use assets. I made this game alone.

Great atmosphere. I'm not sure if there is an end. I felt like I'm doing pretty great during the storm :) Good job!

Cool atmosphere. I liked how well and concisely you explained the mechanics

I like the atmosphere you’ve built here both the graphics and sound effects are amazing. Gameplay seemed a little stale to me though I am not gonna lie.

Developer

Thanks for playing the game and for the feedback! I am glad you liked the atmosphere. Since this was a solo project (and I am not very good at programming) I wasn't able to do much for variety of gameplay and game mechanics. That's why I decided to develop a game that focuses on the experience of living in the woods by a river rather than anything more complex gameplay-wise. I will certainly work towards improving in the future and adding more to my games.

I totally understand been there myself many times)

Beautiful game, I like the game loop and balancing between your temperature and warmth. I got to a point where I encircled the fire with fish and had fun doing it, so I took a nice swim in the river.  For a while, I was a little tense and I kept hearing footsteps that weren't there haha. Honestly you have a great start to a horror game if you wanted to go down that path. Great job!

Thank you so much for playing!

This game captures the essence of survival beautifully! I loved the immersion in the calm before the storm, followed by the intensity of the storm itself.

The graphics are stunning, and the physics are impressive too.  Some freezing issues during transitions disrupted the flow a bit. Overall, a great experience.

Developer

Thanks a lot for your kind words and feedback. I will work on improving my future games. Thank you for playing!

Very cool survivalist which is a great immersion in the atmosphere of calm before the storm and then in the storm, and it's scary to leave the house, but had to, to catch fish and eat xd

Graphics is just super and physics too, but unfortunately I have a picture sometimes freezed unpleasantly.

Developer

Sorry to hear that. I am glad you enjoyed the game and I hope the lag wasn't too bad so as to prevent you from enjoying the atmosphere. I will work on improving the game in the future. Thanks a lot for your kind feedback!

I believe video games can feel truly magical when they offer just a small spark of wonder. In your game, when I tried to enter the lake and the game not only allowed it but also reacted to my choice, it created a genuinely magical moment. Well done!

Nice art but it doesn't seem to run well on my pc. It freezes during transition frames.

Developer

Hi, sorry to hear that! Specifically what transitions are you speaking of? Does the game have FPS drops in any specific areas or is it just stuttering? And is it during any specific action or all the time?

Submitted(+1)

The main menu transitioning to the main scene. The first time it froze and exited itself, the second time to took a little to load.
After entering the game, it runs at what looks like unlocked framerate which is good. But then it froze again.

It might be because of my pc. I couldn't exit the game with the close window button either, it froze there too.

See if you can lock the framerate to 60 fps if it isn't already? I don't know if this will help with performance but you could try.

I just ran the game on my laptop as well as another PC, and it ran fine. The main menu transitioning to the main scene does take a while to load due to the stuff that is loading in, and I haven't implemented a loading screen for that.

'Not being able to exit with close window...' that is interesting though. I think you should be able to do so with the escape key, it is bound to quit. Thanks so much for all the feedback, I'll look into it at the end of the jam! I played your game too, it was very cool! <3

A nice and polished solo entry! I would like to point that that the audio could be more balanced and eating the fish could have some audio feedback:)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing! Yes, the audio was probably one of the more neglected parts of the game. I will definitely work on improving these aspects of my development in the future. Thanks again! :)
