How does your game fit the theme?
The calm before the storm in this game is about quite literally getting yourself ready well enough to start the day. It’s all about preparing for the work ahead. The storm is trying to deal with the expectations of society despite perhaps not being your best self. The storm phase is all about you trying to do what you need to do whilst you’re in a very low state of your life, and recognising that maybe you need to take better care of yourself as a priority.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
No, some assets were used to fill in gaps:
Kenney - Emote icons + Textures
Code - Git-amend & DOTween

I really enjoyed this calm relaxing experience.
Art: First of all, its a beautiful game, the art and enviroment is probably the best I've seen so far in the jam.
Audio: The music fit the game well, but I wish more things had audio.
Fun: I really enjoyed my time while at home, but at work, the third time I had to start matching shapes I had enough of it already, I wish the work would have been a bit more fulfilling cause that was soul-crushing, and so slow! Just like a real work day.
Innovation: 5/5 unique I really enjoyed it.
Game design: 5/5 it's a whole experience calm, relaxing and beautiful.
Theme: Well, the theme was for me pretty hard to grasp in the gameplay, work was not stressful enough and the anxiety before going to work was not there either, I was expecting work to be more of a storm then what it was, it was very calm as well, but my ADHD just couldnt take it, it was soulcrushingnly slow but still not a storm really. Maybe the soulcrushing part counts as a storm inside of me and thats why I couldnt handle it.
I'd really like to see a longer game where there would be clearer signs of depression or more of the characters backstory.
Sorry for ranting a bit too much in my review. Well done, this game spoke to me.
Thank you so much for leaving such detailed feedback! And it's such an honour to hear your feedback on the art! I'll make sure to pass this on to the other artists!
We definitely had a bit of a crunch to do the office bit, so it really didn't come off the way we wanted (The original concept was more of a warioware-type gameplay, which would have been more intense and really delivered on the storm theming).
As for the depression aspect, that was originally the plan, and we also had plans to represent this visually and through gameplay, but we steered away from it for now because of the short timeframe to make the game. If we tackle it, we wanted to make sure it was done with care, which is something that's harder to do with a short time limit. But it definitely was something we had thought about.
Great art especially on the appartment, and the relaxing music was on point.
I wish there was more to the story ! Who am I, what is my story, my feelings, etc. I hope you can enrich that afterwards!
Very polished, stunning visuals! I found out that if you double click something the text appears combined and makes no sense. If you spam click the interactions the text just goes off screen. Which is quite funny :]
Really well made, I hope this gets featured! Well done people.
Loved the art. The character also kinda looks like me so that's a plus (although I'm definetely not THAT handsome ahahah). Great job, although I agree with most of the feedback other users already gave you I really enjoyed your game :D
The art is great. You could try making an animated movie or a comic book.
Things that could be improved:
- UI scaling is nonexistent.
- No soundtrack plays in the office. Is it intentional though?
- It is possible to interact with some object multiple times, but it does not do anything. Do you have duplicate code?
- The status bars are practically pointless because they did not get below 75%.
There are definitely a few issues and although I’d love to fix them, we just ran out of time for a game of this scope.
- UI was done by multiple different people, probably why you are getting scaling issues
- We have an issue where our AudioController doesn’t play anything in the office (cause unknown)
- This one is just due to not ticking the single use box on the object, as we originally intended certain tasks to be repeatable
- Ideally we would have had a game loop up earlier for testing and balancing, but things didn’t pan out
Thanks for giving the game a go! I really appreciate the feedback.
Thank you so much for your feedback! It means so much to us to hear your feedback on the art! On my end, this was my first time having to wrestle with opentoonz, so it is very reassuring to hear the animation was alright!
But yeah, things didn't quite go to plan overall, and we didn't get the chance to playtest and balance the game properly before uploading it, as BinaryBob said. It really was a mad scramble to the end.
Looks really good! Feels already polished, and the idea is cool.
It's not always obvious what to do. Also popup jumps too high)
The art style and animation of this game is wonderful, really like it. Also the gameplay in the office is fun.
My only problem with this game it's because I didn't get what to do in the beginning, I think it would feels nice to know what to do or when things are going to happen
Beautiful game and cool concept. The storm phase at work could be a but more clear but overall really well done.
What a lovely game. The visuals, the way the camera works and feels its incredible!
