How does your game fit the theme?
To rescue your hometown village from an ominous darkness, you must wield extraordinary key weapons to unlock sealed doors and banish the encroaching shadows.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
All art assets are made by me, and I coded a majority of the scripts. However, I did use scripts from other resources such as YouTube and ChatGPT. I also used Splice for a few sound samples.

Very good work; I like a game that is not too ambitious.  The tutorial levels are great. I love the pace of this game, it's not getting to difficult to fast. I recorded my play through:

Thank you for recording your play through!

Cool take on the theme and pretty well put together for a jam. The key throwing star was pretty fun. Great work!

Well done!

Nice platformer, i wish there were more levels.

If you have time check out my game.

The artstyle is cute and the idea is quite funny. The controls felt quite floaty and unresponsive.

Today, I learned that keys can be used as weapons. They come in deadly variations, especially Ex-key-libur!

Developer

Hah, I had named the Aseprite file "Holy Key," but your name is a lot better!

Nice game! I really like how simple yet fun this game is :) The game's design is cute, and the gameplay is easy to understand. However, I think there is a little bug somewhere in the 2nd level where there are trap doors from the floor and ceiling. The character got stuck and disappeared, and I couldn't continue the game. All in all it's a really nice game, thanks for making it! :D

Thank you for the comment! I was unaware of that bug but I think It has something to do with how I set up the colliders! Appreciate it

👏 congrats for your game! I like the use of the camera: the fact that it's zoomed sometime hooked me and I'm sure it will hook others

That was quite fun. I was hoping I could switch between the weapons as I got them, but that's fine. I couldn't get the box you have to push to move at first until I got my foot stuck in it while jumping and then it slid super fast lol. Keep up the good work and keep making games. A warning though that ChatGPT is notorious for making janky code, so I'd stick to just watching the good old YouTube tutorials for now.

Switching between weapons was originally my idea, but I decided to scrap it to save time! Sorry about the box, I hope to learn how to make better platformer mechanics. This was my first attempt ever at designing levels. It was a lot harder than I thought. OG Brackeys videos got me to this point! Thanks for the comment.

Fun game! I wish character control was a bit better (you can stuck at wall if you jump on it, controls itself feel a bit floaty). Also, for some reasons, jumps with the second weapon triggers attack (not sure if it was intended).

Developer(+1)

It was intended but the audio trigger made it kind of annoying! I'll definitely work to make a better feeling player controller. Thanks!

Very neat and well done! Love it :)

I really like how this fits the theme, where the doors are not only the levels but also contain specific objects such as enemies. Good job! :D
