Lovely game, but sadly I'm only able to play it for about 30 seconds before dying. I either get killed by the third or fourth goblin each time.

How does your game fit the theme?
Every door is different.
Every time you open one, something new happens.
So, everytime you encounter a new door, you wonder: what's behind that door?
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
No.
For code, we used Dialogic.
For assets, we used different copyright free assets, usable without any mention.

This was a fun game. I got stuck after it turned night and I wasn't sure what to do after finding the 2nd door and killing everything. Had fun with everything up until then. Having the combat so stiff makes it feel like you're just taking turns attacking the enemy, I think being able to move while attacking would help the combat feel a bit more dynamic.
Thanks for the feedback!
When it becomes winter (/ night), the water gets frozen, so you can walk on top of it, the next door being there too (just to your left
Lots of people mentionned the combat, and some already said it would be better to be able to move while fighting ; couldn't do that much because of the spritesheet we had, but definitively gonna take it more into account when making my next games
Thanks!
Cool game. It uses the theme in a very interesting way. Definitely was excited to see each new door. Combat felt too hard with attacking completely stopping your movement. I think it would be a lot more fluid to play with a dedicated way to dodge or if you could move + attack at the same time.
Hmmm, it could indeed make the gameplay feel better
In our case, the spritesheet we used doesn't have an "attack while moving" animation sadly, and we're limited by free assets limits overall
I did think about a way to "block" for example, since the player has a shield, which seems pretty similar to your idea of dodging (even tho there's still the spritesheet limitation issue)
Thanks for the tips!
I had a bug where after dying I would respawn with low health already which made progressing through the game impossible
Nice looking game but not an easy one! Maybe the balance of the game can be improved to be a bit more progressive?
Congrats for publishing your game 👏
The game proved to be highly enjoyable, especially as I became accustomed to the combat mechanics.
the game was really fun once you get used to the combat in it. at first it feels a bit limiting but overtime youll get used to it. i also liked the concept with doors creating new effects on the world. the only complain i have is that the last boss was very hard ;-;
Great idea! The fact that something odd changes every time you open a door makes it really interesting, it made me feel curious every time I saw one. The combat did need quite some testing until I got the timing, died quite a few times there haha. The audio is very fitting, but in my opinion the different graphics styles feel a bit odd - there is a lot of pixel art but the characters have a hand-painted look, while he HP bars are flat-colored. The combination looks somewhat weird.
The game has quite a few annoying bugs though that kept me from playing it further. The map hitboxes felt kinda unpredictable, sometimes I could walk through a tree, sometimes a tiny rock would block me.
When dying in the later chapters, I got respawned with ~20% HP a few times which made the game very very challenging, but then I got respawned one time with my health constantly refilling. Also the season change made it very difficult to see my HP sometimes.
Lastly, after opening that door on the island and dying afterwards, the game respawned me but froze a short time after, making further progress impossible :(
After some bug fixing this game could be really awesome. Well done!
Thanks a lot for all of that feedback!
I guess some of the graphics styles problems come from the fact we only used copyright free art and didn't make an
Also wanted to change the life bar, but didn't have much time, was too close haha
Also, when you respawn, you actually respawn with the health you had at that time
If you were healed, that must have been because you were next to a healing totem (with a big light)
I do agree the game is a bit too hard tho, and that the game in general needs feedback / explanations (for example, about the totem)
Noted for the season change, and I do agree
There was indeed a crash like that when opening the door in the winter, but I normally fixed it some time ago, so I'm gonna check that back
Thanks again!
Yeah I suppose finding free art that fits together can be challenging
Oh I thought you always respawn with full health, my bad. I never realized the totems heal me, that could've saved me a few times xD
I just played it again and tried to replicate the freeze, but it did not occur again. Maybe I was just really unlucky there and found a rare error on my first try? I published the comment immediately after playing, yes, and I'm using Chrome
I got to the key boss now, it is really tough. I did not manage to get it to half HP even once in over 10 attempts.
Well done. I was happy to see controllser support but none of my xbox controller buttons would attack. Good work for a week project.
Excellent game, the combat was quite complex but I really liked the graphic style.
I really like the graphics, but the fighting controls were tough, but not impossible to get used to. Well done.
I enjoyed the game, but for me fighting enemies was quite difficult. I didn't manage to kill them without taking damage, but apart from that well done :)
