Game's Take on the Theme
Stuff can spin (yeah, sorry, that's not very original ¦3)

Did your team make the majority of the art and music during the jam?
Yes, except for the music

Hey There!

I wanted to try and analyze every game in more detail, but unfortunately :( there's no time left for that, as there's only ONE hour left to vote, and there are still 200-300 games to go. So, my rating will be based on what I can see on the profile page (graphics, concept, description, etc.) to contribute a few points and help improve your chances! I'm not expecting a rating or anything in return since time runs out in an hour. It simply gives me peace of mind knowing that I was able to rate every game. :)

Wishing you all the best! ;)

The art is amazing and I really enjoyed the playstyle. One thing I really thought was super cool was spinning the title theme, was pretty cool!

The art is gorgeous! The gameplay and UI are so fresh and clever. We had fun playing it! Keep it up! Very unique game. 🖤🌻 GG

Hey Guys,

I’m loving the game! You guys took the spin theme to higher levels here. It's so well made!!!!!
I love the colors and music, everything really ties everything together.  Once I got the hang of it of controls, I had a great time playing.

You’ve got some serious talent here.

Impressive result for a 1 month jam.

You've guys been rated  ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Please rate us back!

Let’s lift each other up! 🚀

I like the visuals, also the mechanic to spin with mouse feels natural and more inmersive, really clever aproach, the game overal feels natural, well done!! I rate graphics fun and control on top but all is great really, also, if you have some time, please rate my game too, thanks!!!

I was still unclear on how to use controls haha I would just run up to bosses and paddle smack'em. Cool art and nice spinny stuff! Congrats on submission. Feel free to try ours if you like!

Yo I think I played this game before the jam ended. Really cool use of the spin theme.

very interesting game, I liked it. If you want to, you can rate my game back!

The best spinning control of its type so far. Being able to spin consistently regardless of where the mouse is positioned is great. Took a while to figure out the parrying mechanic, having a way to evade would be nice.

There were several moments throughout playing where I got hit with the fattest "OOOHHH" inducing epiphany followed by laughing, and it started right at the beginning with that really cool menu. Although the biggest one for me was realizing after literally beating the game that the player was holding a little racket, that blew my mind for some reason lol. When I saw the video of the game footage after beating it, I realized that I was absolutely not playing optimally, since I was so consumed by the spin theme, the way I played the game was by just frantically spinning the player character in circles, which I think might've given them a massive headache. As you can tell by how impassionately I'm talking about this game, I absolutely loved this it was awesome!

Not me sitting there for 2min waiting for game to load before realizing need to spin the mouse. The mechanics are very unique and interesting, haven't seen a game stun yourself from spinning yet.  But I wasn't able to figure out how to use items. The hitboxes were also kind of tough to read, sometimes I feel like I should be hitting the boss but it didn't, other times I swing randomly and boss took damage. I like how the settings menus are also very spin-y.

Developer

The hitbox problem may be my own bad, I was still eyeballing stuff from demo videos sent in the group chat whilst making the 'swing' swoosh sprite. It was only sometime after that point that I asked for explicit sprite dimensions. Sorry!

First of all, I really love how "mysterious" this game is, you don't really know what its happening but it really is a great experience. The mechanic of the spin is very well implemented and I loved how the credits were the same way, I actually want to learn hoy to do that now, it looks really sick! Also the visuals are amazing, I love this art style, congrats! :D

Wish I could understand what am I doing, why am I doing and why sometimes time rewinds and I start the boss again and other times I can fight until it dies, but the game is so pretty and so fun that it is a delight to experience even with the questions in my mind.

Am I a tennis player? And is the last boss one too?

Is there a reason you chose purple and gold for the palettes?

Developer

The colour palette was mainly inspired by my initial interpretation of early concepts of the game's vision—a lonely tennis robot inexplicably misplaced within a barely-lit clocktower must fight its way through other autonomous yet aggressive foes to escape.

While the yellow doesn't have its originally intended effect of conveying the little bit of outside light that does manage to creep into the facility (rather it now mainly allows for contrast between obstacle and otherwise), the purple still stands to highlight both the generally dark surroundings and mysterious circumstances the protagonist and player are subjected to.

I think there is a beautiful contrast to it, and the feeling of light and dark was conveyed a bit, because I was thinking it was a hope and despair symbolism. Thank you for answering!

A brilliant and even genius idea to teach the core mechanic through the game's title screen intro! However, it still lacks some basic information on how to play (though after a few attempts, it's possible to figure it out). Even so, the game is incredibly unique in its approach to the jam's theme, which deserves respect. This is one of the most unique experiences I've seen in the jam—excellent work!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I couldn't figure out how to make a proper tutorial without sacrificing much precious time or showing a wall of text no one will read, and just entrusted everything to the player to find stuff out with a couple of gentle nudges. But that's great feedback, thank you!

Submitted(+1)

Nice, I had trouble on the first try. But I liked the battles a lot!!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, it took me literally a month to get used to these controls ¦3

Submitted(+1)

This is so cool. Honestly took me a few tries to understand the controls/what I was doing but once I did I was really into it. One of the coolest uses of the theme I've seen so far, and great presentation. The artwork is wonderful

Developer

Thanks for giving it a spin!

fun game! What is XVIII supposed to mean

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I wanted to keep it open for interpretations ¦3

But you can check under the spoiler below.

Spoiler: this is the name of the final boss that combines all the names of tutorial bosses.

It's top tier spin mechanics!

Developer

Thanks!

Really fun and unique take on the theme! It was cool how the bosses and player interacted with the motion of the environment, and the art style is super charming! Had a little trouble figuring out where the bosses' hitboxes were, but definitely enjoyed the game. Nice job!

I'm glad you had fun ¦3
