Alright this absolutely rocks! The core mechanics are simple but very fun and the polish is on another level.
I encountered a small bug were the fall voice lines would sometimes play when jumping but they were funny enough were I didn’t mind xD
Much obliged! I woke up super early on the last day of development to add that extra layer of polish.
Can you recall when did the fall voice line bug happen so I might be able to locate it?
I think it mainly happend when close to the edge of a stone platform. I triggered it a bunch of times when trying to cheeze my way up a stone without a battery as step (which I failed to do) but I think also once or twice when landing on a stone. I kinda have the habbit of jumping a lot tough so a bit hard to say ;p
Thanks for the feedback. I'll see if I can replicate the bug.
Polished and precise platformer, it runs beautifully. I like the cartoony stretching of the animation when the robot jumps. That ending was unexpected...
Appreciate it! The game was made with web-performance in mind and tested frequently. The stretching animations are really simple, but they add so much to the game feel. Thank you for playing.
Great freaking game. Good puzzles, a charming art style accompanied by a Quippy gecko that is about as endearing as Gex. This is high high-quality, well polished game that I would love to see being expanded upon.
Thank you so much! Your feedback means alot to us. We never actually named the lizard during development and I like the sound of Quippy :D
Almost missed this one. I really enjoyed everything about it aesthetically, from all the hot colors to the robot design, hat included. It's really cohesive and pleasing.
I'm glad you didn't miss it! This makes me happy as art hasn't been very strong skill for me. Thanks for playing!
I've always fantasized about being able to harness the sun and having a talking lizard. So this game is a dream come true for me.
I'm glad we could make your weird and oddly specific fantasies a reality.
Easily one of the best games in this jam that I've played. Strong execution on both the gameplay and world building, and the lizard is what easily makes this a 5 stars in my book. Unreal submission considering the timeframe, great job!
I'm so happy to hear that! Took some crunching in the final days, but we managed to create the experience we had planned for players to enjoy. Thank you for playing!
The design caught my eye immediately. Once I saw that the player controls a robot with a lizard companion, I knew I had to try it. I enjoyed the level design and gameplay. The controls feel good. My only issue was that I would sometimes double jump when I only pressed the space bar once. The vehicle controls were also a bit rough, but nothing major. I enjoyed the concept. The voice-line cues (missing a jump, taking too long, etc.) were a nice touch. The end sequence was a lot of fun. This is very impressive considering the timeframe. Great work!
Thank you for the feedback! In retrospect I think we should've added the robot and lizard to the cover image to stand out more. I've done a 3D-platformer in a jam before and the feedback from that helped me create even better 3D-platformer controller for this game. But yeah, the vechicle controls definately needed more time in the oven.
This was a super strong entry! The solar-powered mechanic was a super cool interpretation of the theme and also a really fun mechanic! The mechanics were cool, I liked the character model and graphical style, and there were some level designs! I hated the lizard (but like in a "its well written" kinda way), and I thought the ending sequence was super sick! The only problem I saw at all was that sometimes the camera would snap to odd angles when I tried to turn, but all in all great job!
Thank you for the kind words! I'm happy how the characters and levels turned out in the game. I have seen that camera bug a few times on streams, but not during development. Might be a browser thing. I will have to look into it after the jam. I appreciate the feedback.
Very strong in all aspects.
Properly instructs player and increases difficulty which is always a challenge in game-jams I feel.
Love the Gex inspired companion and the dialogue you can get when failing jumps.
There's a lot to like in this game :)
Appreciate it! Yeah, the difficulty curve is hard to nail down, but I feel the best results is achieved by teaching players one thing at a time within gameplay. Thanks for playing.
Serious game here. Enjoyed the control flow and your approach to the theme.
Much obliged! We wanted to implement the theme strongly into the gameplay. Thanks for playing!
Really nice and cozy game! Power of the sun to charge up works really nicely and the looks of the game and the sidekick (voice-over) are awesome.
Thanks a bunch! Solar charging was suprisingly easy to create for the game and voice-over was suprisingly fun to create. Thank you for playing the game.
CRAZY ending, i love the voiced companion, makes the game feel so alive and me not so alone in my dark basement!A very enjoyable platformer, and i usually hate platformers. Also watched this live on aaalan
Thanks for playing and watching! Aaalan had great back and forth with the lizard on the stream. Even at the beginning of the jam we wanted some company for the player and the lizard is a result of that.
Great level design with charming voice over! Good job!
Appreciated! I'm happy how the voice over turned out as I haven't voiced such cartoonish character before. Thanks for playing!
Wow! This moves like a dream. Excellent work on that and the puzzles.
Thank you for playing! After many game jams we have managed to create quite smooth character controllers using the feedback of the players.
Movement feels really nice, and using sunlight / shadows to gate energy was a fun twist. No comment on my feelings towards my animal sidekick :p Nice job!
Much obliged! I will read between the lines of "no comment" ;)
You guys did an insanely good job! The game looks amazing, the characters are funny, the gameplay is great, and the puzzles are well-designed. The core mechanic (double jumps depending on sun exposure) is a clever way to create puzzles. And there's even a plot twist at the end!
AMAZING JOB!!
Thank you so much from your positive feedback! We managed to cram just about everything we had planned into the game. Missed some sleep, but it was worth it.
