  • While the game successfully adheres to its thematic elements, I found the pacing leading up to actual gameplay to be rather prolonged due to the extended narrative storytelling. The absence of an option to skip this narrative portion detracted from my overall experience. It would be beneficial for players to have the flexibility to bypass the story elements if they wish to engage more quickly with the gameplay. Implementing a 'skip' feature could enhance the accessibility and enjoyment for those who prefer to dive directly into the action.
  • Interesting game combining the platform and shooting aspects into multiple modes. The platforms could definitely move faster as I felt there was a lot of time wasted just waiting for the doors/platforms to start and finish moving. The player was also sliding quite a bit when on platforms and the shooting could of been more diversified with a different feel for each quite with different fire-rates and sounds.

Tell us about your game!
Our game is 2D side-scroller for two players but playing on one keyboard. We have two game modes: Shooting and Parkour. In Shooting you need to kill your enemy using guns, powerups and level landscape. In Parkour you need to go to finish earlier than your enemy, there you can use checkpoints, guns and so one. If any player dies, he will respawned on last checkpoint. Make sure, you and your mate who plays with you have comfortable key buttons bindings. If not, you can press "Esc" button on your keyboard and then Settings/Controls/Player1 (or Player2)

Hey ITDeveloper, hea7en, Pixagonal Games, heybelak!

How are you? My name is Ilias.

I tested your game, "Battle of the Worlds."

Puzzle games can be intriguing, fun, and provide nice experiences.

I was about to write about the controls when I saw one of your comments suggesting binding inputs to other keyboard keys; that is a nice touch in case someone prefers another set of keyboard keys.

Questions:

Did you include any optimization techniques, or did you choose to include only the in-engine ones?

What engine and tools did you use to create your game, including the graphics?

Was it hard to develop your game? Did you experience any challenges?

What inspired you for your game idea and the gameplay? Could you share the story behind the game's name?

How did you get into video game making ? were you always a team ? Did you all started together ?

N.B: It would mean a great deal to me if you could rate my game. If you haven't already, feedback from friends and fellow gamers is valuable to me. Thank you in advance for your consideration and your time.

Thanks!

-Ilias.

Yo!
Thanks for your questions, i'm ready to answer.

  1. No, we had no time for this, 7 days for jam and we were wanna make something really cool but, maybe, less optimized
  2. We've used Unity engine and assets like Unity New Input System and built-in post-proccesing. Graphics was made by our artists, i really appreciate his work, he's incredible!
  3. Yea, some people left in active developing idea of our game, but we could stabilize
  4. We were waiting for the theme of jam all day. When it left 10 min, we've started to scrolling different ideas. Then we saw theme "RIVALRY" and we wanted to make something like inversion of game "Water and Fire". In the process we also thought about adding guns and other stuff that, as far as i know, could fit inour game and give it more dynamics.
  5. We're not team that was already prepared and worked without problems during jam, some people, as I already mentioned, left from project (some artists/musicians/etc.), but we could replace them and make smth till end.
I can share some facts from my background.
I'm a unity dev with 4 years of experience in Unity, also i'm a artist working in pixel (not really good, but some stuff from my games was made by me).

Oh, you didn't work all 10 days on your game entry; the jam was a 10-day jam.

Oh Unity, I used Unreal.

Does Unity have a visual scripting system for non-coders?

Oh, you do pixel art as well. What program do you use?

I used to use Promotion for pixel art; it's an old software, I think it was open source and free.

Thank you for answering the questions.

Ilias.

I love the idea of this game, It definitely has potential to be a great puzzler if given time & care. It was slightly hard for me to control both characters. :( but that's just a me thing. I like the cozy music as well.
A job well done to all the members of the game! :)

Thank you for comment!
You could change key bindings in Pause Menu and make it a little bit more convenient for you!

You have made it so that when the text does not fit into the screen, "..." is shown on the screen. I will remember this and add it to my future games.

It seems to me that the animation problem can be fixed by resizing the colliders. I had a similar problem (when a character stands and plays one animation or another, although he continues to stand). It was all due to the fact that the character had two colliders of the same size that interacted with the environment, but only one was responsible for checking (whether the perchonage was on the ground)

I like the sound of gunfire.

Cute tiny game! The main issue for me is that the story is soooooooo long without ability to skip...

The graphic of the game itself way different to story but it's very cute. I would love to see the same graphic/heroes in the the story as well to make the game more holistic.

Definitely the game has a lot of potential! Keep improving!

Developer

hi, thx for comment
no, there is an ability to skip the cut-scene
just press "ESC"

Oh, that's helped a lot. Thanks! I watched it two times  fully because of this "Skip Cutscene / Space" xD

Would be perfect to add that info into the game like "Press Esc to Skip or something"

Nice idea, although you should definitely put the basic controls on the itch page, especially to be able to speedup the text at start (or to skip it the 2nd time you see it) it is very slow. The description you put here should do the trick typically. Other than that, the controls are a bit wonky, but it makes it feel a bit chaotic which could be kinda fun for that type of game. Maybe give a bit more space in some of the small passages. Also I’m not sure I really got the companion idea, but overall good job
