What do you like about your game?
I like the spreading toxic blight aberration terrain in the game. In general I wanted to learn more about using the tile map within Godot to make a game and this game jam was a great opportunity to try it.

Very original idea and fun game! Good job!

It was surprisingly fun to play! I think it would have been better if the goal of the game was to remove all the toxic thing because it doesn't feel like a 102% healthy environment at the end. As other people said, the controls should be improved. If I had to make that type of game, I would probably put all the seeds, fire and shovel on buttons on the screen on which you click with the mouse. But still till, with some polish, I think the game has a lot of potential and I had fun playing it.

Nice idea. For me, it was a bit hard to correctly control and navigate through the land.

There's a lot of really strong ideas here, but it needs some polish.

The controls are pretty clunky, I see you did mention you had some ideas to improve them. The hot start is pretty disorienting combined with the unusual control scheme.

A free play mode would have been nice at the end, I wanted to paint the island!

It's a neat choice to have the seeds and burning options not be linked. As passive and active measures that "you" the human walking around the island can take. It almost makes the game feel like the camera is more like me looking down and walking around.

Thanks for playing and giving some feedback!

I definitely went out of my comfort zone on this one so there are some areas that I just didn't know what I was doing!

I wanted to include multiple play modes but unfortunately just couldn't get that done in time. Lots of little polish tasks didn't quite make the cut!

I liked it. kind of fast paced strategy at the start specially due to i was learning the controls. a little short and had fiddly controls for my taste and i didn't quite understant healthy environment meter since i had 100% but half the map was blighted

Thanks for playing and taking the time to leave some feedback!

Totally get where you're coming from I think there are some good ways to optimize the controls better I wasn't able to do that during the time limit but I'll definitely consider how that could be done! The healthy environment meter is kind of incomplete as well. In the current implementation its only tied to the amount of plants that you create so the blight could occupy a significant part of the map still when the player reaches the "win" condition. That's something I would try to improve as well!

I liked it. I thought that it was a good example of how a simple underlying mechanic can be used in different ways for interesting effects though I'm just guessing at how it works.  I think it's proceedurally generated too nice work.

Developer

Thanks for playing and your feedback! Also yes you are correct the map is generated procedurally!

Great game, it was a little hard to understand what the was happening, but after i played for a while i think I got the gist of it. It was a little slow paced, maybe if you increased the speed of the blight and the speed of the plants there would be more of a hurry to protect the environment. It was a lot of fun playing and you did a great job of making the game, hope you'll continue working on it.

Thanks so much for playing the game and taking some time to give some feedback. I think that you are right. Probably most real time style games move a bit quicker than this one. I wasn't quite able to get the balance of urgency vs planning to the perfect point and hopefully that is something that I can improve upon in the future!

I gotta say, it's unfortunate that this is such an unknown game! This game's start to end works well, and trying to beat back the poison/aberration is decently fun! I would say that the range of the shooty flowers is a bit small, and this game is kinda hard to read in general, being maybe a bit too basic for it's own good, but the environmental health bar helps with this. Overall, this game is an enjoyable little experience, however adding a bit more to it would be a good idea. If you improved upon some of the mechanics, you could have quite an interesting tower defense indeed! That being said, I played the game until I hit 260% on the environmental health bar, so it clearly has a spark!

Developer

Wow! That is an awesome defense that you have assembled there! I admire your patience and dedication putting that together.

I totally agree with your points on the feedback. If I was to continue working on this current demo I would definitely work on the shooting flowers some more to balance the game and make it more fun. Readability is certainly an issue as well my pixel art skills are a work in progress in themselves so I appreciate that you stuck with it despite the graphical short comings.

Thanks very much for taking the time to try it out and for leaving your feedback!
