Lay it on me. Please include any relevant information like your operating system/hardware specs/if you've recently updated/are experiencing other issues that may be related :)

Unless specifically noted game updates should not break save files. However, a game version update will make your save out of date.

Editing your Save.bum file to change the SaveVersion line (the second line of the save file) to the currently installed version of Steam Marines 2 should allow the game to load the file correctly, for example SaveVersion v0.7.0a to SaveVersion v0.7.1a

The Save.bum file, as well as other config files, can be located at:

Windows: "\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Worthless Bums\Steam Marines 2\"

Linux: "~/home/<User>/.config/Worthless Bums/Steam Marines 2/"

The game log file can be located at:

Windows: "\Users\<User>\AppData\LocalLow\Worthless Bums\Steam Marines 2\output_log.txt"

Linux: "~/.config/unity3d/Worthless Bums/Steam Marines 2/output_log.tx"

Ah yes, the very first alpha bug report: the Guard skill has an incorrect tooltip stating it needs 1 Action instead of the actual requirement: 4 Action.

The game became unresponsive when I tried to go on my first mission. I never got to the map...the game hung on a black screen. Additionally, would it be possible to make the camera controls rebindable? I am left handed and WASD doesn't work real well for us lefties...

I'll be sure to push full camera rebindings soon!

Is it continually hanging on black screen? I assume you got past at least once to reach the tactical field camera controls.

Yeah I got past it...It was a one off. I'll let you know if the problem persists.

Hi, i'm not lefty, but worst : not qwerty ! So rebind would be great, for everything.

Ah, most keybinds should be in Setup > Keybindings, but yes, not all camera controls are in yet - they're on the todo list!

After the last update I get a message about the savegame being corrupted. It blocks the main screen buttons and it won't allow me to start a new game. I can't do anything else and I have to alt-tab and quit the game manually. When I restart it the problem recurrs.

I tried to look for the save game in the game folder, documents folder and subfolders, and the unders folder but I could not identify it so I can't erase the offending file. An option to delete the save game or to restart with a fresh savegame would alleviate the problem.

In Windows save files are located in "\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Worthless Bums\Steam Marines 2\"

The save file validator should have automatically reloaded your last backup and overwritten the offending file. I'll look into the popup blocking the main menu buttons.

I haven't been able to launch the game (Win 10, i7, 16gb, GTX 1060ti) - the music starts but with just a black screen.  Mouse pointer disappears in the middle of the screen.  Have to power cycle the PC to close it.

Could you send your output_log.txt file to, it should be located here:

"\Users\<User>\AppData\LocalLow\Worthless Bums\Steam Marines 2\output_log.txt"

I started the game as a grenadeer. All my team has grenadeer equipment. I hired a scout which had Scout gear. After I moved my ship, I checked my team again, and all my team, even the new scout, had grenadeer gear.

Thanks for the report I'll look into this.

If I can help in any way, just poke me!

I completed the Alien Derelict with no problems. 3/3 levels cleared.
I moved on to the Robot Derelict, only for completion of the first level to result in 4/3 levels cleared and that mission terminating.

At which point I also discovered that my entire team now has Scout equipment like my Commander instead of their actual equipment.
(Closing and reopening does nothing to fix this.)

Going to see if I can't back up the save file, start a fresh one with the relevant classes, & copy their equipment over to correct the original.
Seems like that should work, though I'm not sure whether I can fix the level completion bug in a similar fashion.

Thanks for the bug report! Got a similar one a while ago and have been trying to chase it down, this might help me narrow down some possibilities.
