Any suggestions?

Yes, we've got a few! Bunny Hill Horror, and its sequel, Bunny Boiler, may well be your thing. Or try Witches and Bandits and Swords (Oh My) if feel like something lighter and more playful :)
You could try Chuhou Joutai (Steam version preferred) and its sequel Chuhou Joutai 2: Paraided!, both of which feature visual-novel style cutscenes.
Hi there! Please consider checking out the demo for my game, The Road to Draksten. It is a lighthearted point-and-click adventure inspired by games like Disco Elysium and Darkside Detective. Have a nice day!
You could try the demo for my Visual Novel I Know You, But How. I had written an e-book a while ago, of the same name, and am turning it into a Visual Novel. So far there are 4 chapters and the next three are almost done.
Some of the story is that Caleigh and her school friend Heather are walking to the mall when Gustave suddenly shows up. He calls Caleigh, Aleena, which is very confusing. After a very strange conversation, Caleigh and Heather start to run the rest of the way to the mall. Instead of getting there, though, she ends up someplace else. She leaves the room she's now in and eventually finds her way to a music room. Gustave is there and isn't surprised to see her. There's more conversation and stuff and eventually Caleigh runs out of the mansion and into the woods.
