Expandable/Collapsible Sections in game details

If there's a lot of text on a game page, the user has to scroll past it all to reach the download buttons. It would be great if we had the option to create sections that are collapsed by default, and users can click on the heading of each section to expand the text for that section.

Alternatively, providing an option to display the downloads above the game description would also be valuable.

You made some good points. It’s certainly more realistic than every single developer suddenly learning not to put a novelization of their games into the description. ;) On top of that, it sounds like something that could be implemented without too much effort or too many disruptions. (That being said, I have been wrong with such estimations before…)

And just to let you know: The option to display the download button above the game description already exists - it’s just that not every developer takes advantage of it, even if they should.

Do you mind sharing the secret technique? I haven't found a trace of this feature in the game editor, theme editor, or the creator FAQ

I wouldn’t mind sharing but unfortunately I don’t know how this works… I was assuming it’s a .css-thingy.

The author of the game I linked would know and based on my past experience with the skilled developers publishing on itch, I’m pretty confident that they would be genuinely delighted to share their knowledge with others - in the game’s comments or elsewhere.

SOLVED: It must be set to Paid or Donation

The upper-download section automatically appears if the following requirements are met:

1. The game publisher's payout settings are set up properly to take payments 

2. The Pricing of the game is set to $0 or donate, or Paid (No payments doesn't end up getting you a download section at the top) 

3. The description is long enough (longer than the screen).

I was just coming here to suggest it. With multiple input methods, the games controls become a non negligable portion of the games page. For exmaple I'm attempting to support VR on the rift and Vive, game controllers and M&K.

With all of that plus 10+ inputs it becomes a bit aggrevating to not simply be able to make controls a drop down.
