How much time does it take for a game to be sold on itch.io . Just comment the answer down .

Do you mean “How long after a Steam release does an independently developed game usually come to itch.io?” Because that varies from developer to developer. Best ask them about it…

Anything between now and never.

Unfortunately, there are no guarantees of a sale.  Itch.io provides a platform but beyond that you have to market the game yourself.   The majority of my games have no sales from itch.io members - the sales they do have were

  1.   I had a promotion on another site and redirected people here;
  2.  my friends that buy them - even though I'd give it to them for free - or in some cases did give it to them for free;
  3. when I put them on sale - long time ago before itch.io had this many games on it - I've had no luck with recent sales.

You should go in with the expectation that your gross revenue will be zero unless you get lucky. There are plenty of people trying to sell their games and the probability of being one of the more successful ones are slim at best. Don't quit your dayjob.

Agreed! I mostly just put out my stuff as free, turns out you have a higher chance of making money getting tips from free games then from paid to play. Or atleast that's my case anyways but yea best to go into expecting nothing so you're pleasantly surprised. I think smaller projects should be free to play with optional donations/tips and only the larger projects should be pay to play (with a free smaller demo).This method seems to work for me and various other peeps, this is especially lucrative if you're going for a certain niche type of games, :3
