nah, it doesn't matter how the objects end up in the train, they're just randomly arranged for the explosion. Launching the items took a little bit of tweaking just to get the angles right (the first attempts launched most object way over the buildings and/or way to the sides, but I was able to dial that in with just a little testing.

The tractor beam goes down directly below the UFO. It's a bit hard to see when it's turned off, but it's still there.

The cows do count! All of the objects you've collected get pushed out in the explosion. It's hard to tell what they are because the camera is a distance away, but I promise you they're there. I even used the exact same game objects that were collected.

When the train 'crashes', all of those objects are moved a bit in front of the crash center, with slight randomized offsets in each direction, and then they have an force applied to them to simulate the explosion. So it's randomized, but within some pretty tight limits so most of them should be aimed towards the buildings.

The 'secret' with the batteries is that for each one you collected, the game increases the simulated mass of the launched objects, so they're more likely to actually knock over the buildings when they hit them. If you collected all of the cows and trees but none of the batteries, the explosion would launch a ton of objects at the buildings, but they'd all just bounce off because their mass would be so low compared to the buildings' masses.

It doesn't have any controls tailored to mobile, so I don't know if it'll work, but good luck if you try.

Awesome idea, fun to play, plenty of content for a 48 hour jam, but I definitely could see myself playing a bunch more levels of this if you decide to expand on it. Great job!

Some interesting mechanics here, but as someone who's usually pretty bad at platformers, I found the controls to be way too twitchy and slidey (is that a word) for me to make much progress. I bet someone decent at platforming would have less trouble than I did.

Nice start to a wave shooter, the 3rd person view takes some getting used to but is okay. I could see this turning into something pretty cool with an upgrade system that let you build out more complex defenses over time.

Really fun little game, very well presented. The sound effects are spot on. My only suggestion is that I wish I could've seen a little further ahead while going up so I could try to plan my pushes a bit more strategically, as it is now I mostly felt like I was just guessing where ore/explosives were because I didn't know what was coming.

If ever a game was prime for a vertical screen (like a phone), this is it.

This is great! Fun to play, very well put together, visually super coherent and nice! Awesome job!

Neat idea, and harder than I expected.

I ate 19 jars of creatine and then ate a candy and it said I lost. Apparently eating 19 creatine jars in a row is unhealthy!

Surprisingly compelling idea. I got 99% on my second throw, so I'm feeling pretty proud of myself. My next five throws were not as good though.

Good start to a game, it's definitely satisfying the way the enemies fly off when you land a charged punch!

This is some good dumb fun, and I mean that in the best way possible. Great job!

Thanks for playing and thanks for judging!

There's some very cool ideas going on in this game, and I love the visual aesthetic, it works so well. While playing it, I did often wish that the field of view was larger so that I could try to plan ahead more, rather than mostly just having to react to things as they appeared on the screen so close to my ship.  But overall I really enjoyed it, played all the way through Act 1. Great Job!

Pretty ambitious idea for a gamejam, and a decent start to it.

The level flipping mechanic is fun, and I like the shark character. Silly, but makes sense in its own way.

Really nice and responsive controls for a quick gamejam platformer. Great job!

Pretty fun game, I kept replaying it. If you decide to develop it further, one idea that I think could be nice would be the ability to look a little bit further ahead so that you can try to plan your route a bit more. I often felt like I as just taking blind guesses as to what the best path might be, rather than having enough information to try to make good decisions.

(1 edit)

I actually  considered that, but I also kinda of liked the challenge of having to press the correct key to activate the soldier you wanted when things started getting chaotic. But also, if your keyboard has a numpad, the 123 keys there will also switch soldiers so you can use your other hand for that. Thanks for playing and commenting!

Fun little game, full of very inconsiderate drivers. Murphy is awesome!

I played this a few times, made it to the third or 4th level the last try, but am struggling to understand exactly what's going on. My guess is that your character moves randomly and triggers different runes by walking over them, and so by placing runes you can try to influence what gets triggered? But I couldn't really figure out any patterns about what the different runes would trigger, so it all felt really random to me. I do like the character art and the music choice is nice.

I love the little ghost character, and the music gives the whole thing a nice vibe.  I was unable to restart after dying, the game would just black screen and never restart. I had to reload the entire page to try again, and this made it hard to get a feel for the controls.

Nice little idea, the giant entity looked awesome and intimidating.

Interesting idea, but honestly it's way too difficult and unforgiving for me, especially at the beginning. I tried at least a dozen times and never made it past the second group of platforms.

The art is great, but the gameplay is a bit confusing, it's hard to tell what objects are obstacles and which are just background. It's also a really difficult game as well. But nice work for your first game!

Fun little prototype. Definitely feels like it could be a start to something pretty interesting. Good job!

my original idea was to have significant impacts with floating  containers or your ship knock them loose, but I decided it was difficult enough already.

you’re an inspiration to us all

The original plan was to have you take parts from the glowing devices to fix your ship, but real life intervened and forced me to narrow the scope and turned it into just wandering around and looking at stuff.  Thanks for playing!

This ain't his first rodeo.

Well made little game, but it reminds me too much of my day job.  Visually it's very nice, great use of the assets and lighting.

I like a lot about this game, the visual style is really nice and the music is great, and the controls are pretty good for a quick jam platformer. My biggest complaint is that often it was difficult to tell what parts of the environment were platforms and what parts were just background art. But it was still fun.

It's simple but seems quite functional and pleasant. Pretty impressive for your first game ever, especially given that it was made in a short game jam. Good job!

Nice chill and fun game. Definitely left me wishing there was more content for it, but for a two day jam game, it's great!

Cute truck, good eater. Music isn't nearly epic enough though, rated 0.25/5.
