Nice visual effects, nice audio & music and addicitve gameplay :)

Thanks HudHav Productions, we will certainly explore the control scheme further to find the optimal solution. We think that using a controller might feel best for our type of game. Any suggestions on that are always welcome :).

Thanks a lot VercinGames!

Wow! 4th place in the Brackeys 2023.2 game jam! Thank you all so much for voting and your lovely comments!!! And reply YES of you want to see an optimal version of this game released in about 2 years time 馃槈...

Wow, I played this on my laptop which is starting to show it's age and it barely was able to play this. I love the effects in the game, very polished and 'shiny'. It makes the visuals of this game. Sound is also nice and polished. Also the 3D blocks that you destroy look nice. I bet it was a lot of work to put all this together. I gave you this suggestion earlier and in more detail, but for me the UI is a bit too colorful and cluthered which distracts from the great in-game visuals. Great entry!

Thanks a lot for reviewing! Your game is probably my favorite of the ones that I've seen.

Do you have any suggestions for improvement? Would love your opinion.

Again, thanks so much for your opinion! You have some nice ideas that we also had in mind, so that is a nice conformation. I have looked at your video and it looks really good! Nice frantic action in a space setting, always works. I have one tip for using color in interfaces: only introduce a new color when you absolutely need it. And only use highly saturated colors for the most important elements. Your games look and feel very nice, but the interface screams for attention and that distracts from the nice gameplay. Hope it helps! Cool that you are developing that game  further! Keep it up!

Wow, where to start with... your comment! Thank you so much! And nice to see that it hooks a fellow astronomy fan. I had this idea in my head for a long time now, so we just had to participate in this jam :). A high rating would be amazing, but we are here to test our game concept and to receive feedback. We managed to only get a fraction of our ideas into this little prototype and we are curious to see what players (dis)like.

Since you enjoyed it so much, what would you like to see in your ideal version of this game? Would love to hear that!

I'll make sure to play your game soon.

Thanks for the reply. Only having a week for realizing a polished and fun game is hard right! I only had like 3 actual days and a few evenings. It's madness, but it's fun :). I had the idea for this game lingering in my mind for around 8 years... And then we saw the theme of this jam and had no choice but to give it a shot.

I really hope you can develop your style of game making furhter. I think it has great potential!

I wished the game would go deeper... So that's a compliment. I liked the gameplay.

I enjoyed this game way too much, which is a good sign :). It's a really funny game that is simply fun to play around with. I want to give you credits for the sound. It's simple, but extremely effective. Some ideas for improvement:

- I missed some form of progression. It would be great to unlock the next level if you reach a certain depth.

- Like LandonZX below suggests I was also thinking that this game would really benefit from a star system.

- Adding some variety of 'objects' instead of the bouncy pad would be nice.

In it's current shape the game is already fun to play with so imagine what a polished version with more 'depth' could achieve. You might have a hit casual game in your hands ;). Nice entry, congrats.

Wow, this is amazing! I love it when media types go in the blender. You can clearly see that you guys are professional videographers. The quality of the whole production is amazing, especially for a one week game jam. Are you planning to make this into a professional thing and possibly sell these types of games? If so, you might have a fan :). I'm a sucker for old school point and click games and games with an unusual art style. One of my favorite games is The Neverhood, which is a claymation point and click game. You should check it out, because besides the clay it has a lot of similarities with your game.

Some constructive feedback:

As a professional game/visual designer it is my guess that your skills in terms of videography outshine your skills in game design and development. Or it could be time limitations, because having this production quality is pushing it ;). If this is the case, ignore my comments. There where a few small bugs and the interface design of the puzzles was of less quality than the video production in my opinion (not as sleak and stylish as the rest). I would have loved to have a bit more freedom of choice, like choosing the doors in the order that I want. And sometimes the puzzles were a bit too obvious for me. Like when the voice over hints at the clock. I loved the puzzle with the piano, but thought it was a shame that you put a ui over the piano. I wanted to figure that out for myself ;). I'm only so critical because I know you are professionals and I would like this level of feedback on my own game :).

Some bugs I found:

- Sometimes cursors would appear, but I couldn't click anything for a little whyle.

- Sometimes the question mark stayed while I think that wasn't the intention.

- When I closed the pictures on the wall (with the clock) screen  I went to the piano screen.

Back to praising:

Congratulations on this amazing achievement. You can be proud and I'm sure you will have a great score on sunday! Please let me know if you are planning on releasing more like this, because you can count me in.

Thanks Slowbision! Glad you like it :). If you have any ideas how to improve on the game, don't hold back ;).

Fun idea :). We all know the gameplay obviously, but it was difficult to grab the good things and shoot the bad things. Fun times.

Fun game! And it has indead some trippy qualities with the black and white squares. They also helped when judging the timing and positioning. I would have loved to have experienced a bit more 'depth'. That could have been visual (darker and darker for example) or depth numbers in the HUD. Like some others commented, the hit boxes can be a bit unforgiving.  But nice entry. Congrats.

I couldn't play the game correctly I believe, because I couldn't get the right mouse button to work on a macbook trackpad. But I just wanted to complement you on the nice atmosphere of the game. Nice clean menu's and I really liked the grey 'office/lab' settings with the colorful wires. Great use of color. Always love to see that as a designer :). Wish I could have played it :). I didn't rate because of it, but you have 64 ratings allready. Congrats.

Nice little descent into the deep. The simplicity can work really well, but I would have liked a bit more challenge early on. Nice entry!

Short but sweet :). Nice cute setup and funny dialogue. Nice how you find bigger and bigger fish. Would be nice if that journey was a bit longer and maybe had some obstacles. Nice entry! Congrats.

I looooove this idea of managing different controls! It suits the theme of managing a complex and delicate spacecraft. I also like the visual direction of the game. It gave those tech vibes that suit the spacecraft. The music is also nice.

Some constructive feedback:

- I think the difficulty is a bit hard! But that could be me.

- I love the idea and theme of this game, but I would have loved it more if I got the feeling I was actually diving fast into an atmosphere.

- Music is great, but I missed other sound effects. Not only for the vibe, but also as feedback. That could be really fun in this game. Some alert sounds and interaction sounds (propulsion or button sounds)

Great that you made the entire game by yourself! I like the audio and the idea that you can encounter new types of fish any time. Funny, both our games are submarine games made in construct, but the controls are so different. Took me some time to get used to, but that is because obviously I'm used to the controls in our game :). I'm curious what you prefer. For your combat focused game the controls you use probably work way better.

Nice game!

I like the 3D environment. It makes it feel premium. Yet I couldn't really get the hang of the controls. Maybe that's just me :). Isn't there audio or is there something wrong with my settings?

The minimalism, smoothness and particles make this game. It plays really nice and feels juicy. A great example of how important color and readability are in games. Congrats!

You are spot on with your feedback, because this is exactly how I feel ;). We would have loved to build the world out more, because the scanning and lore of the game are a bit rushed. We had so much more ideas to slowly build a nice experience where you could scan more and more interesting flora and fauna. With a bit more lore about how the technologies and the flora and fauna worked. The scope was already too big ;).

I really like your game. The vibe is cute and unique. The audio, visuals and gameplay work really nicely together. Congrats! It's funny to play this kind of fly, upgrade, fly further game, because our game loop is very similar. Nice to see that I really enjoy it here as well. What I love as well is the extremely simple but extremely fun/challenging way of flying with only A and D. This makes the gameplay. If I have to give some improvements I think it starts out a bit slow and there isn't really a challenge to it. I didn't loose any lives and the fun started to amp when I got more speed.

Congrats for making such a nice game!

Funny how similar our games are :). We have the same dive, upgrade, dive deeper loop. The control scheme is similar. The lighting works similar. The battery works somewhat similar. Seriously, you should play our game to experience it for yourself.

Good game. One thing I want to mention is that the 'death' is a bit abrupt. You could add a short delay so you can actually see what went wrong.

I like the spooky vibe that you get from being surrounded by darkness. Something about it is instantly enjoyable.  But I might be biased, because our game has that as well :). The audio works really well to deliver that spooky atmosphere. The game could use a bit of visual flair.

The game play is simple, but it's fun when you don't get a screen full of bombs that you can't dodge ;). The depth meter in combination with the dodge mechanic is actually a bit addictive The art style reminds me of really early games with the over saturated colors. With a bit more consistency you could nail that style and it would work really well.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot!

Thanks for your rating! Your game looks amazing. You also have a black/white color scheme :). Everything about your game is very polished. Congrats.

Thanks! Yes, you are right about restarting every time on the same location. We have a lot of ideas to improve the game. Having different starting locations is one of them. Also we would have loved to add a sort of encyclopedia about the life you discover. To amp up the discovery aspect of the game.

Thanks for your kind review :). Rated your game as well and left a commend.

Thanks for rating our game EUR01 ;). Indead what a similarity in the approach to upgrading! I really find it addicting to upgrade more and more in your game. Can't stop :). The waiting is however not so fun. Good that you have a speed button. Maybe it would be fun to add simple left/right movement to dodge certain weather effects? That could add so much. But then again, maybe it's not what you're going for. Nice entry! Congrats.

What a funny idea! Congrats

This was truly enjoyable :)! Congrats! The highest rating for me so far. I really dig the art direction, very cinematic. Even with nice credits at the end! The black and white obviously fits the noir theme and it works very well. We have done this in our game EUR01 as well ;). But then with a more literal take on the theme. You have a nice link with the theme, but not too obvious.

I like it! What I like the most is all the awesome views from the sub.. And the creepy atmosphere. Congrats.

The pixel art is good and I like the audio as well. Compliments for the cover art. It really drew me in. You can't underestimate the power of a good cover art :).
