All the systems, including the databases, can be damaged if you land on a planet when you have a damaged landing system.

I didn't actually know you could get around the iframe like that with an itch game. Anyway I need the sharer page for the Android and iOS versions to point at so it's easiest to use it for all three versions.

Just so you know, I hate generative AI. Soulless slop built on plagiarism and environmental destruction.

Obviously I can't stop people from taking the output of my game and plugging it into an AI image generator, but please don't post about it here.

You can also undo a lot of your decisions by reloading the page. There was no way to prevent this without rewriting the whole game, and I decided that it didn't really matter in a single-player game.

The sharer link works by encoding the game data in the query string (the bit after the ? in the URL). Games hosted on itch.io don't have access to that query string, so I made a page on my own website to display the mission report.

It looks like you're playing the version hosted on philome.la. That was the original site where Seedship was hosted, but the site was discontinued and became read-only in 2019, so I can no longer update the version of the game there and it's forever stuck on version 1.3.1.

I fixed this bug (and a few other minor bugs) in version 1.3.3, so the itch.io version and the mobile app versions don't contain it.

Great! I'll make sure to correctly label the files when I upload new versions in future.

If you're playing on Linux I recommend getting the browser version (btcg_browser.zip) and running it in your web browser, rather than running the Windows executable through an emulator. Anyway I'm glad the Steam version is working for you.

All I did today was label the file btcg_win.exe as a Windows executable in the itch.io back-end. I didn't make any changes to the files themselves, so I don't know why this would break something for you.

Do you want to try downloading the game from the website without using the itch app and see if that works?

Hi! It looks like the file btcg_win.exe wasn't correctly labelled as a Windows executable in itch.io. I've fixed that, so can you see if that fixes your issue?

Unfortunately there really isn't any way to mod Seedship because it doesn't load anything from external files that you could modify.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm no longer developing the game and I'm happy with it in its current state. Also I deliberately made it simple because I thought that would be most artistically effective, so I think pixel art and features like ship building and ship upgrades would have muddied the premise.

If you want to play a larger, more complicated game with more scenarios where you can do things like upgrade your ship, you should check out this game's spiritual successor: https://johnayliff.itch.io/beyond-the-chiron-gate

Thank you!!!

I don't remember exactly how it works but you don't get the chance to save the police robot in the police station, you do it at the very end of the game when you and the police robot are in the research lab.

I've updated the Android version so it should be back on Google Play.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll try to get this fixed this week. In the meantime, playing the web version in your phone browser is basically the same experience as playing the app version.

*So* annoying that older apps just stop working unless the developer rebuilds them for the latest Android versions.

Wow, thank you! I had no idea it had such enduring appeal. You may have spent more time playing the game than I did writing it!

If this is the app, does the same thing happen if you play the web version in your phone browser?

I won't be making Seedship open source but if you want to look at the source code for your personal coding exercises you can email contact@johnayliff.com and I'll send it to you.

Thank you so much!

No, they're all the same game.

It wasn't all *that* annoying :)

Thank you!

Thank you! Really happy to be a part of this.

Sadly no, I'm pretty sure there's no way to sell an iOS app outside the app store. Apple are pretty strict about that.

1. Yes, the PC version is the same as the iOS version so should be equally blind accessible.

2. Unfortunately there's no way to sell an iOS app from itch.io or for itch.io to know that you've bought it from the App Store, so yes you'd have to buy it again.

3. There's no required typing. You can optionally rename your spaceship and explorers, and that involves typing in a new name, but if you choose not to do this then there's no typing.

Yeah, this is weird. You should see at least a gravity icon for each planet.

Can you email bugs@johnayliff.com? I want to send you a private message but I don't think I can through itch.io.

Sorry to keep asking questions, I'm having trouble tracking this down.

Have you adjusted the zoom level in the game settings? (Or, do you have anything on your phone that increases the text size in apps?) If you go to settings and reduce the zoom, do the icons appear?

If you turn the phone sideways, does the game go into landscape mode? If so, do the icons appear then?

Every game, there are 6-8 randomly generated interstellar civilisations (including the Gatebuilders), plus a large number of non-interstellar civilisations. When you first encounter signs of an interstellar civilisation, your explorers will give it a nickname based on what they know about it at that point, from about 100 possible nicknames.

Can you tell me what scanner upgrades you have that should be working but aren't?

Also, what phone are you playing it on?

Thanks for the report, I'll get this fixed soon.

Thank you so much!

Steam is a more complicated platform to get onto than itch.io, but you're not the first person who's suggested this, so it's probably time I looked into it.

Thank you so much! Your games look very cool so I'm really glad my little space game inspired you to get started.

Wishing for you to have great success too!

There's no way to adjust the difficulty I'm afraid. It's meant to be difficult at first and then to get easier as you master it.

There's also no way to erase records from inside the game. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling it and see if that clears all the data associated with the app. (If it works it would also erase your current saved game and any achievements.)

Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not working on the game any more. I also think it works best as a small game focused on a limited set of actions (exploring and choosing where to settle), and more mechanics like gathering resources would make it less focused.

That's intentional, that's how this kind of roguelike game normally works. Even though you're starting from the same place each time, you're  getting better at the game, so you should eventually be able to beat it.

Thank you, I hope you enjoy it!

Sadly I don't think it's possible to sell an iPhone app except on the app store.

If you download the HTML version from itch.io and run the HTML file in your phone browser, it should work basically like the app does, although it won't be a proper app on your phone.

To be honest you don't really need a character sheet to play this game, there's not much information you need to record for each character.
