I believe that is the nvidia overlay, you can get rid of it by pressing alt+r also try pressing alt+z and messing with settings. you can change the hotkeys so that way you don't accidently push it again.

I like how you call me out on penmanship and then proceed to capitalize every other word for no reason, as well as misquoting my comment. And yeah, it was meant to be passive aggressive lol I'm glad you picked up on that. You can keep commenting on every other comment with nothing of use though. I don't feel like replying to your other dumb arguements so have a good one dude.
That's weird my save data and custom content folders are all located in the same folder which is "C:\Users\"myname"\AppData\Local\VotV". It has always been this way as well at least as long as i have played the game which is about a year. I think you can set your own custom content file path in-game in the settings.
You most likely fell out of bounds when you ragdolled in the corner and you will always crash when falling out of bounds in tutorial, it's sort of like an anti cheat for all the secrets in the tutorial that hopefully haven't been removed in the new version, seeing as i couldn't find a way to open secret areas and stuff.
What does the crash report, if you get one, say? Does the game crash when you launch it or after running the game for a while, if it's the latter then it i most likely because of ram shortage or something similar. Try lowering the visual settings, as even really good pc's will have trouble running this game usually, especially after the new update.
The controls aren't even marginally better. The hold and use should be flipped, the circle in the center of the screen is obnoxious, not to mention anyone with any modicum of computer knowledge should find the alt + interact button controls easy to use since it's literally used in countless pc hotkeys.
I hate the new controls. Lol why there isn't a toggle for the old controls is absolutely insane to me. And the tutorial was definitely way too hand holdy. I get people ask dumb questions all the time that are literally answered in game but no reason to dumb the entire game down especially on a part that is unskippable.
If you're overclocking your GPU this can cause that error i think, Or maybe you need to update your drivers/directx. Regardless that error is relating to your graphics card either being unable to support the game or being outdated/damaged. It is weird that your able to launch the game into the main menu though as usually that error would just appear when you launch the game. Maybe try using DXVK, i'm not entirely sure how it works but this was posted on another VOTV reddit with the same error as you.
"You could use -dx12 flag like that: create a shortcut and add -dx12 ("C:\..." -dx12) through properties. I still have an error on line 684, but I've heard new ARM processors shipped with better drivers, so it could help.
If you want to dive even deeper, you could use dxvk, just download latest version from github and place dxdi.dll, d3d10core.dll and d3d11.dll in game folder under VotV/Binaries/Win64 near large size exe - that should be done without -dx12 flag."
Also, you didn't need to buy the game. It's free to download.
What is wrong with the text? Does it look like a jumbled mess of a bunch of numbers/ letters? If so then try lowering the AA settings to lowest settings. There is two different AA settings in game and i think they conflict with eachother which makes the text hard to read. Or if the text is just very blurry/pixelated then it's probably a resolution problem which would mean you need to try raising the in game resolution or turn on automatic screen res.
Not really a votv reference, just a reference to a meme. look up "oiia cat". Maxwell and the oiia cat look similar but maxwell is actually a reference to an internet cat called "maxwell the cat" he was just an angry looking cat, i'm pretty sure his in game model is just the meme picture that was made into a 3d model.
