Really like the art direction here. Are there any power ups or more you can do than just redirect the light? I like the concept a lot but would have liked to see some more variation. Really nice entry and very cool that it's optimized for mobile as well. Nice work! Really dug the music too.

Very cool game. Loved the animation and art. The transitions were really smooth.

Ahh, sorry it's running so poorly for you. Thanks for trying anyway! I'll have a download available once the jam is over. :D

Aww thanks Dragoooooon! 🥰

I just looked into this again and it turns out it's a bit harder to fix than I thought. However, the game should work fine in Safari! Try it and let me know if you have any issues. Thanks!

Blown away by the art and game design here. You all have an incredible style. Really impressed with the cut scenes and the interactive animations. Would love to see more games from you all in this style. Keep up the awesome work and congrats on a great entry. Probably my favorite of the jam so far!

Wow, really cool game. Love the environment and the light mechanic. The vfx were also really nice and smooth. I think my only real gripe are the way the player is controlled. Mainly jumping up a wall by holding space or being able to climb up a single wall feels strange. Maybe playing with a controller would have been better here. Dashing in the direction of the mouse is a cool idea though. Nice attention to detail here. If you had more time, maybe improving the character art would be something that would give the game an even more polished look. Nice work!

Huge fan of this game. My only real gripe is that space isn't jump. lol That kept throwing me off. LOVE the aesthetic, the art, the environment, the vibe. Y'all did an amazing job and made a really fun game in the process. The quack with the laughing in the background had me dying. Nice work and glad you had fun making it.

Great job on the submission! Love the art and the lighting effects. Glad to see another firefly game in the mix!

Fun and simple game loop. Nice work. Sound effects were really nice too. I had some bugs with the movement. Standing still and trying to shoot once a circle lights up doesn't work until you move again and my movement would also sometimes get stuck moving me in one direction. Maybe it was just an issue with the web version, not sure. I think someone else had this issue as well. Really loved the feel and speed of the game play. Nice work!

Wow this feels super original. The mix of so many mechanics here is really neat and still simple enough to start playing right away. I think the light and dark enemies could have been a little more obvious in terms of their design but the addition of the pipes connecting was a really neat idea.

Awesome work on your first submission. I wish there could have been some audio. Curious what the little green guys sound like :D. Took a little bit to understand what was happening exactly and once I got to a score of 21 and removed all the fire there wasn't anything else to do. Maybe a game over screen would be good?

Really loved the abilities here. The sprites were also very cute although I don't know really what the brown potato thing is suppose be lol. I was able to beat it on my first run which was nice for a jam. The baby duck mech is incredible! Nice work!

Thank you so much! We had a blast working on it and feel your pain with the checkpoints. The J and K keys are meant to be taught to you through the game so that you don't know about them too early. But I think we could have done a better job at introducing the second one perhaps.

Didn't get to play this until after the jam but I'm a huge fan! Awesome design and love the gameplay. Mouse controls are a little slow but really nice to have.

Absolutely loved it! Full marks! Music and art was my favorite so far. The puzzles were simple but fun to execute.

Weird! I mean that in a good way. Had a blast transforming into a bunch of different things. The beginning of the game left a little to be desired in terms of art. The second half was really cool. Really felt like this was two different games smashed into one. Probably could benefit from just choosing one direction.

Love the consistency of the artwork. People struggle with that sometimes but the look of this game is chefs kiss!

Incredible work! Curious how the leaderboard works. What kind of database are you all using for this?

Wow! the art is incredible. Clearly you know what you're doing when it comes to pushing pixels. Would love to see this idea expanded on.

I got to the end but didn't really come across anything that felt like the theme of "transformation" personally. Did I miss something?

Cool idea. Felt like it was hard to get started and I didn't understand why I was losing at first. Going negative in anything ends your run but that isn't very clear.

Round 21 is all I could manage. 🥲Such a fun little game. Love the ease of play with just the mouse. The music goes so well and the art is great! Can't believe you got this done so quickly and while doing so many other things. Seriously nice work!

So cute! I love the different abilities and the character sprites/animations. You can tell that will a little extra polish this could be a really solid game. Music was also nice and relaxing for this type of exploratory game. Had fun playing.

This is a REALLY solid entry. Some great puzzles, clean art, nice use of effects, mellow music. Love it. I do wish the main character saw a little more love though. Just felt like it didn't quite match the quality of rest of the world. The built in tutorial was expertly done imo. Especially for a jam game. I know how much time it can take to craft something like that and this felt like it went above and beyond.

Awesome work and killer project! Congrats.

This makes me want to make a metroidvania so bad! Love the voice over work. Not many jam games go that far and I loved it. You're probably well aware, but having some knockback and invulnerability time would eliminate the issue of being killed by the same enemy so quickly. Sitting on top of the lizard enemy for instance kills you immediately. Love the secrets as well. I found the left room right away and was surprised that I would be looking for more secrets. Fantastic work!

You did it!! Wow congrats. Now if there were only a speed run timer built in.... 😉

Thanks for the incredibly kind words. We worked so hard on this one and we're over the moon with how it turned out. Thanks for all the feedback and the willingness to give it another shot. Please if you have a chance some time come hang out in stream. We'd love to chat more and keep in touch!

We just released an update that fixes a bunch of the issues you mentioned. You can also now play in the browser! Hope this makes it a better experience for ya! Thanks again for playing! :D

We've fixed the platform issues and a number of other bugs. The game is also now available to play on the web! Give it another shot and let us know what you think! Thanks again for playing. 💖

Oh no worries! That's awesome. Would love to know what you think now! Bugs have officially been SQUASHED! You can now play in the browser as well. Let us know if you have any more issues! Would love to know what you think once you are able to check it out again. 🤗

Game has been updated to include a working HTML build! You may also find that you are no longer phasing through platforms! Good luck finishing the game and thanks for all the kind words so far.

woo hoo! I bet you’re better than you think. It just takes practice, and less bugs. We’ll get those squared away this week. Never want to make it feel like the game is cheating you. Thanks for playing!

oh wow! We would love to check out the stream! Link?

Thanks so much for downloading and playing. We’re working on the platform issues now. Unfortunately we ran out of time and needed to submit before we could squash them all.

We’ll update everyone when the bugs are fixed!

You bet! Thank you again for all this awesome work. Would love to continue to see tools like this in the future.

oh no, what have you done Ameripon…

Awesome! So many fantastic updates.

In term of other requests. I feel like a speed option would be awesome. Choosing the number of frames is cool, but maybe speed is a little easier to wrap your head around when it comes to exporting as a gif.

Ahh got it. Seems like using live_call() worked just fine . 2 - I'll keep that in mind. lol

Downloaded the fix which got me past the server issues. But now updating my create objects using the live_auto_call gives me the error...

Couldn't find `function_name` in `function/location/Create_0.gml`

Everything looks right to me. I checked the raw file and the function is definitely there. Not sure why it doesn't see it. Appreciate the help!

This looks amazing. Just downloaded it, excited to check it out.

What a useful tool! Just downloaded it, pumped to check it out.

Fantastic game! Will come back and give it a rating if I have time later. In the middle of a jam right now but honestly I had so much fun playing this and figuring out how it worked. The AI detective angle was great. 5/5 would play again!
