Hi all, I'm lum!

I've been making games (in some form) for most of my life. In the last year or so, I've started putting my work out there, and my focus is on creating surreal horror games! The one I'm most known for is THE DEVIL HAUNTS ME, which was made for a game jam.

THE DEVIL HAUNTS ME is a survival game about gathering resources, avoiding the horror lurking in the woods, and discovering the mysteries of the world. The core game loop focuses on surviving in the woods; hunting deer, cutting down trees, and gathering water so you can survive each night, while also avoiding a strange creature that stalks you throughout the game. Managing your resources, and avoiding confrontations is key to survival. But, there just might be a secret that will let you escape the woods...

I am currently developing a new horror game called BLAIR ROAD, which I'm hoping to release later this year (on!), and will be more in the vein of Resident Evil/Silent Hill, with some light-RPG elements.

The games I've made have been done entirely by myself in my spare time. Unfortunately, I can't attend GDC because it just isn't affordable to me. I do freelance work to keep myself afloat, but it isn't always consistent work. As a result, I've never been able to save enough to justify going to GDC.

Wow, thank you so much!! I'm glad you liked the game so much.

So, first of all: I really don't like telling people what the 'intended story' is. There is one I have in my head, but if I were to just tell you what it all meant, it would really ruin whatever mystery was left. I think coming up with theories is the real fun part of the story, and because of how its presented, it's open for many interpretations! So please, keep coming up with theories and discussing with others!! And sorry if that answer is disappointing, I just think its important for the game to maintain a sense of mystery.

I will be clear about this though: there isn't a third tier bucket :(

If you want to support me via Steam, then you can always purchase the OST and/or the Making Of digital book! I believe OST is $1.99 USD and Making Of is $4.99 USD.

Thanks again! :)

You're very welcome! :)

thanks so much for playing!! To be honest, I don’t really like directly telling people what they missed & what to do, but I will go ahead and say that there is a red key, and that there is a second ending...

The second ending is a bit bugged unfortunately, but there is some more content to the game you’ve missed. A fix for that + more will be available when the game comes to Steam on Jan 7th!

Thanks so much! 🙂

Dang, yeah that's a little exploit. I'll try to come up with a fix for that in the next update! Thanks for letting me know :)

Nah, the devil only appears after a few days.

do it!!

I'm super glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing :)

...I'm also surprised the UI didn't completely break at the resolution you're playing at! Haha.

Thanks for playing! :) The mask has a couple uses, but I think it's more fun to discover things on your own!

Glad you enjoyed it though :)

Oh thats very strange. If you hit ESC it should bring up the game menu, where you can quit! I can look into that in case theres something wrong with the inputs.

Nope! I had never heard of that game until now.

I'd absolutely love that! Feel free to share it around online too, if you end up going through with it. Thanks for playing! :)

Thank you so much! I'm not guaranteeing there will be any direct answers, but there will be some more lore in the next update! :)

Ouch, thanks for letting me know! A fix for that will be in the next update for the game.

Wow, thanks so much for playing, and for the very thoughtful little review! :)

Thank you! And yes, there’s going to b a new content update coming in the next week or two. 😈

Thanks for playing :)

I don’t plan on personally ever making a guide for the game. I think it would ruin the ‘mystery’ to it. It seems like you’ve managed to figure a few things out on your own though; keep going!!

Thanks so much for playing! I love hearing players speculate and try to figure things out like this. 🙂

Well, I do love me a good From Software dungeon crawl!

I’m not sure. I honestly hadn’t really considered it before! Maybe, but nothing definitive just yet.

Awesome, I'm glad the bug didn't completely ruin your game! I'll try my best to find a fix for that!

Thanks so much for playing, and for the suggestions :)

Currently, no!

Thanks so much! And ouch, that sounds like a nasty bug. Thanks for letting me know, I'll get on that as soon as I can. If you close the game, and continue your save file, does that fix the bug?

I’m really glad you enjoyed it :)

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the feedback. :)

Also thanks for finding those bugs! The first one is actually intended, but I'll look into fixes for the other two!

Haha, I did see his video! I was very surprised to see such a big name play my game and enjoy it! Thanks for playing :)

Wow, thanks so much!

I have thought about mobile versions! I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Unfortunately, I would probably only be able to target Android, since you need to own a Mac to put games on the app store (I only have Windows). Thanks for the suggestion though, there seems to be a lot of interest in mobile versions, so I think it’s something I’ll do in the near future!

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed the atmosphere of the game. The wind chimes indicate a nearby salt circle. If you want to avoid getting hit by fireballs, you’ll notice that the devil will start to change colour as he “builds up” to his attack. Hope that helps!

Awesome!! Thanks for playing!

Thanks so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it! I totally agree with you on the instructions on how to get meat... the symbol that you (and many others) find confusing actually is a deer head. I think i just didn’t do a great job with getting the graphic on the note right. I ended up not fixing it just because it seemed like players were able to figure it out regardless.

Thanks again, and glad you enjoyed the game!

I’ve already looked into this before, and it seems that some antivirus programs will occassionally mark Unity games (or .exes) as viruses. I think its because your computer considers it an “unrecognized” file type. I scanned the uploaded files, as well as my computer, and they both appeared to be clean. That being said, if you aren’t comfortable downloading the file, then don’t do it! My apologies if this gave you a scare.

Thank you for playing! :)

Thanks so much for playing!! :)

Thanks so much for playing! And uh... I'll be vague, and just suggest that you try to explore the world a bit more ;)

Awesome! It looks like the UI got cut off in your video though, not sure if that's a bug or if its just how you recorded. Either way, I'll take a peak at that when I get the chance. Thanks for playing :)
